Complete with five canvas drawers four of which have linen straps with brass closures marked Louis Vuitton. The drawers are all in great shape for over 100 years! Though there is some damage on a few spots on the linen wrapped drawers this would be expected being over 100 years old and well used. The top is padded and silk lined with the 1910 Louis Vuitton label and that of John Wanamaker. I have included below the historical info on both and how they came to work together. The silk has some stains and some missing ribbon but most is intact please see photos. This trunk is large and heavy so it will need to ship freight. It has. At some point, been stained over with a light oak stain so the iconic LV design is visible in soft light and day light but fluorescent lights mask it. black light also shows it. I have been told acetone with safely remove the stain if done carefully but I do not wish to do this I believe a professional could restore it. it truly looks awesome to me as it gives it a traveled look. It has brass fittings and handles which by themselves are amazing. These Louis trunks are so high end and so well made its amazing. Each handle says Louis Vuitton Paris made in France. The latches have the LV and each studd, though most are worn also Louis Vuitton. The silk is there but has some areas of dirt and some damage near the Wanamaker Label the silk is intact in that area it just needs to be re stretched please refer to the photos. The leather edges are in good shape but has three prominent areas of damage please see photos and please ask for more if needed. It measures 43.5” x 22.5” x 23” The structural condition is excellent. There is wear as can be expected given the trunk’s age and historical use as luggage. All the authenticating LV markings on brass fittings are visible. All the brass fittings(the handles on each end and front clasps) are in good. Working condition. Some exterior leather has a fair amount of wear. There is(old) staining in the fabric on the inside lid of the trunk, and some staining on the inserts. No mold or bad smells. The trunk is just‘old. This trunk has been authenticated by the curator of the Louis Vuitton exhibition in Paris through emails. It's the real deal! This size is a rare half steamer. Measuring 13.5 inches high. 35.5 in wide, and 19.5 inches in depth. This trunk is about 130 years old, has traveled the oceans, and shows it's wear. It does have some condition issues. Please look at the pictures carefully. The inside is covered in the original blue/white striped ticking, and it has it's original removable tray, very rare to find the tray with the trunk! Also original label from the Paris Exhibition with the dates 1867, 1868. You can see half a serial number on the top of label. There is also a Louis Vuitton stamp on the bottom of trunk. Huge 1890 Louis Vuitton steamer trunk 43"x27"x24" serial number #15792
This is a beautiful Louis Vuitton trunk. Circa 1890. It has the lowest serial number I have seen on the label 15792. Dimensions 43" long, 27.5" high, 24" deep. The exterior of the trunk has been stained, but you can see the original striping of the fabric used on Louis Vuitton trunks at that time. The inside is the original pink stripe ticking. It does have some stains and shows some wear on the interior, but it is in amazing condition for a trunk that is over 120 years old. The locks have since been changed from the original factory locks. This trunk is very sturdy. These steamer trunks were definitely built to last. I will be happy to post additional pictures. No shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, or international.

This auction is for an ultra-rare. Antique Louis Vuitton Damier steamer trunk! This trunk was produced somewhere between 1888-1896(the time frame of the Damier pattern) The Damier patterned trunks are some of the rarest and most desirable of all the antique Louis Vuitton trunks! A majority of the canvas has been removed but the remaining canvas(on the inside areas of the lid) appears to be the more rare RED& WHITE on brown color combination as opposed to the light brown and dark brown patterns. The serial number on the lock reads 03845. The wood of the trunk is structurally sound and the clasps. Lock mechanism, and handles all seem to be in good shape. I would not think this would be a negative issue if it were to be restore to the original look, as the canvas would cover most of the wood and steel wool could gently remove the rest. Or otherwise it is a Beautiful show piece as it sits or a wonderful candidate for restoration Condition- This Trunk is Structurally Solid and I believe all of the hardware is original. While the only thing I do not know for sure is the corner guards. As early as this was made they may have used these for a short time. They are however old and look completely appropriate. Fresh to the market this all Leather Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk dated around the late 1900's.Serial Number- 765177) has been hidden away in an over grown shed in North Wales. The Trunk was custom made for an H. E. Gowar which is on both side panels. These custom made all leather trunks were much more expensive to purchase than the printed canvas patterns making this a rare find. The truck shows sign's of it's age(120+ years) the leather is cracked and worn in places. The trunk has it's own patina but it is in good condition, sturdy, with no holes in the leather which I feel was once black this could be brought back to it's original colour with a leather stain and waxed, all metal work is also in good condition with all four original LV rolling coasters, the Louis Vuitton logo can be found on the two clasps. On the inside ... moreof the trunk you will find the Louis Vuitton Label. With the inside and basket showing signs of wear and water damage again due to age, the logo can also be seen printed like an water mark on the removable basket material. The trunk measures 30" x 23" x 20" making it an ideal size. Louis Vuitton antique steamer trunk unrestored and in very good condition. It measures 36"W x 21"D x 22"H. The trunk serial number is 45312 and the lock serial number is 03992. This trunk has been in my family since it was purchased new. The exterior covering is the red dot Damier pattern. The leather strap is pretty much gone on this one. But the other leather pieces are intact. It has many dividers and compartments. The internal straps are ok except one fabric handle on one of the pull out shelves is torn off. Vintage Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk Damier Pattern Late 1880's
Antique condition with damage to one corner panel. Pictures show condition. There have been two noticeable repairs most likely done by the manufacturer. The patch on the top is obvious and the lock has been replaced by a different Louis lock which leads me to believe Louis did the repairs. The trunk is intact and structurally sound. You are bidding on an authentic Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. Serial# 40294, purchased per Louis Vuitton France, around 1892. All materials are original except for the lock. The top leather strap is missing. There are a few tears on the rear of the trunk. Truck dimensions are 36 inches wide x 20 inches deep x 21 inches high. The ends of the trunk are personalized by a red trefoil with"New York" written within and the initials"A.S.W. written below. The red trefoil is the regimental symbol of the Army of the Potomac, II Corps, 2nd Division. The trunk belonged to General Alexander Stewart Webb, Medal of Honor winner at Gettysburg, and later president of the City College of New York for 32 years. My grandfather was the caretaker of Ventfort Hall(an estate in Lenox. MA built by the Morgan family and later occupied by the Roscoe Bonsal ... morefamily) My grandmother was a domestic at Springlawn(a neighboring estate in Lenox, MA) built by John Alexandre. Up for auction is a gorgeous square steamer trunk by Louis Vuitton in the monogram canvas. This model was made as a man's hat box around the 1920's in Paris. I have verified the authenticity of this trunk with the Louis Vuitton flagship store in New York City. Fifth Avenue&57th St. where I am a long time registered customer. About two years ago I had a replacement key custom made by Louis Vuitton for this hatbox trunk. Replacement keys can only be ordered if one supplies several pictures of the trunk, answers questions as to how it came into one's belongings, then supplies the two numbers, first from the outside brass lock, then from the inside large LV paper label. Louis Vuitton takes this information and contacts their Paris store, where(incredibly enough! almost every trunk made since the year 1854 is recorded in their ... morefactory journals. Both numbers& pictures must be present, and they must match the old original records- then LV will supply the owner with an replacement key. The fee for this was I believe $50, and it took a few months. I find it absolutely astonishing, that those original written records still exist, and that this option to order a matching key exists! I see a lot of LV trunks in many sizes listed here on Ebay. But I notice that often they are in terrible condition. Either people seem to have stored them in drafty wet garages for decades, or they are amateurishly"restored" with electric tools- in doing so have scratched and blinded the gorgeous brass pieces and rivets. Sometimes even the wood bars have been sanded down electricly, giving them a cheap look. Antique LV trunks should not look"new" As they are 100/ 120 years old. They have often traveled the world and have been pushed around, aquiring the imperfections and charm that we all love about them. To see what a properly restored LV trunk ought to look like. The LV museum in Asnieres France has many gorgeous examples of this. The trunks there are restored while leaving their breathtaking patina intact. They don't have dull tarnished locks and rivets, but carefully hand-polished brass that has a soft glow to it, which can only be achieved by taking your time, old methods, old fashioned cleaners and very soft cotton rags. The shine is rich but subtle, not a super bright modern horror shine, not a scratched surface without any life. You can also see this in the wonderful LV book"100 legendary trunks" I highly recommend this book for every LV enthusiast. It is extraordinarily beautifully made and has a wealth of LV history. This is a cool vintage large Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk! Just add glass for the perfect coffee table! Black trim which wears better and looks less worn than the tan. It is stamped with initials and NY. I love that its from New York! 39" wide x 22" tall x 21" deep Approx 50lbs It is not perfect. Of course. One side has appears to have gotten wet. There is no odor or mold. Just a little wavy and some minor interior stains. Estimated restoration cost is $1250. All proper markings and authenticity is guaranteed(and obvious) Fabulous dream piece! Up for auction is a vintage Louis Vuitton steamer trunk from the late 19th century era. The original label is still intact inside the trunk. With original handles on both sides. Item has been sitting in my basement for a few years after I purchased it from an antique auction in Pennsylvania. Just never had time to restore it. It is in average to good condition for its age and has a lot of life left and is a real conversation piece. Local pick-up or you pay for shipping and handling.
