Pair Pacific Island Hand Carved Corbels Antique shrine Home Architectural Salvag
Two Antique Completely Hand Carved Corbels. from the Pacific Islands. extremely old. from the estate of a lady that spent many years in the Philliphines. and collected and brought back to the US Antiques. there appears to be no finish on these unique corbels. and they show all the signs of extreme age and use. most likely from a Temple of some sort or an estate home. they measure 26 inches along the front and 10 1/2 inches along the back. they are 6 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches deep at the top and go down to nothing at the bottom. One of the Corbels is slightly larger than the other. it appears they were made to fit on the spot when the original building was put together. Please look at the pictures closely and ask questions. one on the corbels has the attaching peged ends sawn off. the other has them.

There are 7 large ornate corbels and 24 small corbels. The backing and top boards are intact. There is chippy white paint overall. It is weathered but there is not rot. It measures 183 inches long. 22 inches tall and is 13.75 inches deep. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. Here we have an original pair of 1880's era ~ VICTORIAN PORCH CORBELS WITH THE ORIGINAL FINIALS ~. We acquired a total of four out of the same estate. So please check out the other two we have listed if by chance you need four. This pair of fancy Victorian corbels has a wonderful look and great detail in the design. They measure 24 inches tall by 17 inches long by 3 5/8 inches wide. They are somewhat dirty and would clean up quite nicely, or could strip them and add fresh paint. The wood is quite solid and there are no soft areas or rot. The one side looks like it was exposed to some heat, but it is only on the very surface and really did not hurt the corbels. Antique Chicago Prairie School Architecture Terracotta Element as Louis Sullivan
This handsome yellow ware terra cotta decorative block measures 8 3/8” square x 4 ¼” deep and has an excellent creamy white glaze with lots of age crazing. Its face bears a geometric design inspired by the early designs of Louis Sullivan and it comes from a pre-1920 Chicago structure that was demolished over 20 years ago. It has since resided in the garden of the consignor who is in the process of moving. The proper left side has a loss and bears mold numbers. You will note chips in the glaze on corners and edges. Superb early 19th c gothic architectural gesso over plaster corbel of a devil head. Dating c.1820. Excellent attention to detail on this very unusual early 19thc corbel. Fine facial detail with prominent nose and lips and with pointed beard. One of two being auctioned. Measures some 5.5" x 3" max width x max depth 2.5" Condition is very good overall and consistent with age with some loss of gesso to the surface of the plaster corbel. All as per images show. A pair of hand carved maple cherub corbels. The cherubs are winged and holding floral branches. Each one is unique and are being sold in sets of two with one figure looking to the right and the other to the left. They have a walnut stain. Superb Fish Scale Serpentine Architectural Remains Massive Corbel Set
Large fragments like these are quite fun to decorate with. They exhibit classical details(repeating fish scales and volutes) but because they are simply remains from a larger piece they also look appropriate in modern settings. The underside and top has some roughness to the wood and there are some dings and scratches but none of this can discount their decorative value. Each piece is 13" x 9" x 7" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects. This item can be combined with others to save on shipping.

Here are two gorgeous examples of Victorian wood trim in beautiful condition. I am no expert on antiques or architectural salvage. But I did a little research and hope I am using the right terminology. These have been at my parents' home for years if not decades. I grew up in an old house in the 1960s and they may have intended to put them on it, but never did, so they've been safely inside all this time. It's time someone put them to use as shelf brackets, book ends, decorative trim or whatever you can dream up! They measure 14" x 12" and are about 1" wide. HIGHLAND KS. RAILROAD DEPOT OVERHANG BRACKETS, ROOF BRACKETS, EAVE SUPPORTS
NEW PICTURES JUST ADDED 4-8-14. All the overhang brackets and what is left of the gable end brackets from a 1910 rail road depot. I de-assembled this depot in 2008. It was located in Highland Ks. It originally was a St. Joe& Grand Island depot later to become a Union Pacific depot. I am publishing a few pictures of the depot before I started. As you can see some of the gable end bracketry is missing. There should be enough left to reconstruct or rebuild depending on your use. Most of the paint has worn off from setting outside. The roof pitch was 8/12. In other words for every 12 inches of run it rose 8 inches. As you can see in pictures most of the brackets are about 5 foot X 4 foot. The longest boards are a little more than 12 foot. You will be getting all the brackets that were on the depot. Years ago we built a house using a similar ... morebracket.
