Massive legs on tiny casters shows the sweeping scale of the large leg tapering to the tiny caster. I am not sure of the wood but it could be mahogany or rosewood. They have not been refinished and are in as is condition as shown in photos. They would make fantastic corbels or shelves. One is about 3/8"1/2" shorter due to the tip doesn't look like it was drilled and has a little angle to it. The other has one piece of the curly turn broken offing the inside of the turned area. These epic. Architectural salvage corbels with drop finals were original to a gorgeous house on South Main St. in New Milford, CT, and were given to me by the owner about 20 years ago. They are in awesome shape; clean, no rot, solid, dry, only a few layers of original distressed white paint, so details of carving are well highlighted. Corbels measure approx. 15"x15"x4" and are about 22+" on the diagonal. I used them for a number of years as brackets supporting a large. Heavy rectangular piece of glass, which made for a unique vanity/shelf over a fab silver radiator. Vintage pair of scrolled brackets. These are a large size. Each measuring 11 1/2" long x 10 1/4" tall x 1/2" thick. Each bracket has two holes at top and two holes at the bottom side for hanging. Wonderful group of four primitive antique architectural carved wood plinth blocks including a teardrop shape flat back trim piece measuring 10" tall and 2-1/4" deep; a triple ringed bulls-eye plinth measuring about 6-1/4" square by 1-1/4" deep; another bulls-eye or rosette plinth measuring 5-1/4" tall. 4-1/2" wide and 1" deep; and a lovely and an unusual elongated plinth or corner block carved down with a ribbed three leaf clover measuring 8" tall, 4-7/8" wide and 1" deep. All bear original old paint full of chipping, rubbing, paint shrinkage and loss- does not detract a bit. I've been displaying these on my mantle for years- they have a neat architectural look and would be a fun addition to any collection or home! ANTIQUE 1870-80 Huge Architectural Wooden Corbels Shelf Brackets
These two corbels up for sale this week are from the east coast and ended up in a suburb of Chicago. Hinsdale which is a quite prestigious area. I was told they were going to be used in a"painted lady" but the deal fell apart, and these folks needed no more corbels. They are huge measuring 28 by 19 and show great weathering. They do not have any missing chunks but show wear as they are well over 100 years old. I am selling these together and will not split them up. They are a great pair. Large heavy pieces measure approximately 22 1/2" x 15 1/2" x 11 1/2" Beautiful dark wood. One has the wooden screw in the top and a wheel- the other doesn't. These are a pair of antique corbels. They have old yellow paint. I love the design of a flower on the sides, I measured the corbels as they look in the picture, 13 1/2" high, 4 3/4 across front and 8" deep, the wood is not in the greatest shape with some of the wood missing and loose in one picture you can see the wood is loose and needs to be nailed. This Corbel? Graced my husbands Great Grandparents mid 1800's farm house in PA. He was a great woodworker and made many things. It's painted a light gold with some soft green under painting that shows where the gold has chipped off. It is 10' square and 1 1/2" thick. the wood is a little warped as seen in the pictures.Please look at the pictures closely. This would be perfect for someone who loves the"Chabby Chic" look. GREAT PAIR CARVED VICTORIAN WALNUT SHELF TABLE LEG BRACKETS EASTLAKE CORBELS
Very nice brackets. 1-1/4 wide not including raised areas. 22-18 tall and 8 deep at bigger end 4-1/2 at smaller but it grows to about 5-3/4 if you include the radius that juts out at small end. Great for your next project. Finish isn't perfect but most is present and with a little work these will come up nicely without having to loose its original color. I pack well and usually ship out quicky.Check my feedback and other listings for more great items.
