Up for bid are two Antique Steel Corbel Brackets that were found in a house that was being remodeled. The house dated from 1892 so these could be from that period forward. The photos show the corbels to be pink in color. However they are off white in color. These corbels are made of steel and are hollow. There is only slight surface rust here and there on the corbels; no holes from rust nor none starting. They would clean up quite well with some paint stripping material applied. These would make a great addition to a historical remodeling project or just simply a great conversation piece if added to an interior decorating project. And display a very triangular and modern look. I always planned in using these somewhere, just never got around to mounting them- they both have a tiny pair of dowels mounted to the base which was how there were originally pinned into place. Condition is very nice with no cracks, hairlines, major chips or damage- lots of paint wear, scuffing, chipping and dirt cased in the cuttings- does not detract a bit. If you trim the tiny dowels off, the two sections can be joined or pushed together to create a neat round centerpiece for a table- or they look ... moregreat just decorating the mantle as a backdrop for other old painted architectural items. Historic Hollywood Cast Stone Bacchus Architectural Element 1900-1925 Thirty Years of Quality Collecting Proud GPSA Member Glass& Pottery Sellers' Association Condition: Good Circa: 1900- 1925 Provenance: Hollywood. CA Dimensions: 7 1/2"W x 11 1/2"H x 6 1/4"D Weight: 24 lbs. Available for your acquisition is this cast stone Bacchus faced architectural element. It was removed from a building in Hollywood. CA. It is in good condition with a chip on his nose and several small chips in the hair areas. There are, also, chunks of cast stone missing on the bottom ends and left side. There are no cracks or repairs and the damge is old. It does have"cut" tooling marks on all sides. High quality cast stone was frequently"cut" or tooled with pneumatic chisels and hammers similar to those used to cut natural ... morestone. In some cases. Rows of small masonry blades were used to create shallow parallel grooves similar to lineal chisel marks. The results were often strikingly similar in appearance to natural stone. Machine and hand tooling were expensive, however, and simple molded cut cast stone was sometimes only slightly less costly than similar work in limestone. The imperfections mentioned above only add to the charactor of this element and are not unusual for cast stone pieces with age. In fact. The worn patina is a result of decades of exposure to Mother Nature's onslaught of dynamic weather conditions, high atop a building. If you are seeking perfection, do not buy this piece. This set appears to be a single Corinthian column cap salvage piece that has been cut in half and meticulously stripped& refinished with a wax coat. The backsides of each have had 2 notched hanging brackets added allowing these very stylish pieces to be displayed on the wall as corbel sconces. Exact age is unknown. A beautiful architectural carved wooden sage green wall hanging corbel. Its base is a common two tier type. While the main show piece is carved with 6 rounded lines surrounded by 3 rectangular lines leading to the bottom which comes out to form a curve. There are two pieces missing at the top where a more intricate trim probably sat at one time. The top is bare revealing the true color of the wood. There are many chips and cracks in the paint, 3 missing chunks of wood, and some small cracks in the wood suggesting the this piece has been through quite a bit over time, making it a perfect decorative piece. There’s lots and lots of variety, and nifty stuff too- so I hope you enjoy! These 2 old terra cotta corbels are stand alone lovely just as they are- prop them up with your pretties and they will shine! Actually- they'd prop the pretties. I should say, as they are stand sturdy pieces of terra cotta clay, matching, each with a three round ball decoration on the front. Each one weighs a smidge under 5 1/4 lbs, and they measure 2 5/8" wide, 6 1/4" deepest and 5 3/8" tall. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition- no structural issues or cracks, but with lots of rustic wear to the clay- there's small chips, nicks, pits, rubs- some original ... moreto the rustic making, some not- like on the round balls of the front. Set of 2 Two Vintage Antique Architectural Gold Paint Plaster Corbels Brackets !
Hi: For your consideration here is a nice set of two(2) vintage or antique sconces or brackets! These medium to large size pieces measure a bit over 8 1/4" from the top of the shelf to the bottom tip. And the surface area of the shelf top is about 9 3/8" wide by 4 1/2" deep which is the maximum depth they would stick out from a wall when mounted. The pieces weigh close to two pounds each unpacked. They are made of what appears to be white plaster or a similar material and the gold finish looks similar to gilders paste/paint. There is a small wire rod in the plaster with a twisted piece of wire on the back of each for hanging. Both are in good condition with no major loss or cracks. Both have light to dark spots or areas in the top shelf part(3rd photo from last) and the other has several small chips and related finish loss. ... moreThe'worst' chipped area is shown in the last photo but there is nothing that could not easily be touched up. They are sold AS IS untouched- they have wear to them, as expected such as nails, holes, and some paint flaking and chipping, which really adds to its charm(See photos. Vtg 20th C Cast Figural Architectural Corbel Mask From Historic Home-Salvage
Presented for your consideration: A Vintage Cast Figural Architectural Corbel The woman that I purchased this piece from got it from an old home in our cities historic district. This piece dates to the mid 20th century. And is made of an early cast foam material(which was first produced in the early 1940's and later became known as styrofoam/polystyrene. This material is much more pourous than modern styro) as well as some wood based composite materials. It is light weight for its size, and measures 32" long, 17" wide, and 10" deep. You can tell that this piece has some age to it by examining the backside, as well as noting the age cracks and weathering under the gold paint. This exceptional 100+ year old architectural element was inadvertently salvaged when it fell from considerable height during a remodeling project of a church. The fat friar clutching his keys and lantern landed on his head and was rescued by one of the workmen who subsequently sold it to the consignor. It has remained in untouched condition with chips and loss to the edges and a flat spot on his noggin from the inauspicious landing. The piece has exceptional detail and great old surface of tarnished and verdigris bronze paint chipped and flaked away in places to reveal the original ragged/glazed parchment finish. It is cast of plaster reinforced with horsehair or similar fibers and is sturdy and over 90% intact with the gnarly old nails still sticking out of his back.
