PAIR of VINTAGE ORNATE Corbels Shelves - MAGNOLIAS and FOLIAGE - STUNNING
This is a wonderful pair of carved wood-look corbels/shelves made from resin. I believe. Solid brass recessed hangers. The color is picture number 5 comes closest to the real thing, but they are actually a little darker, kind of a mahogony color, I would say. They measure 9 1/2 inches across, 5 3/4 inches deep and about 6 inches in length. Need a good cleaning, but I'll leave that to the buyer. I kind of like the dusty look! 2 Wonderful Primitive Vintage Terra Cotta Brick Corbels Pediments Architectural Everything that I am listing this week is from the flea market. And from an auction that we went to. There’s lots and lots of variety, and nifty stuff too- so I hope you enjoy! These 2 old terra cotta corbels are stand alone lovely just as they are- prop them up with your pretties and they will shine! Actually- they'd prop the pretties. I should say, as they are stand sturdy pieces of terra cotta clay, matching, each with a three round ball decoration on the front. Each one weighs a smidge under 5 1/4 lbs, and they measure 2 5/8" wide, 6 1/4" deepest and 5 3/8" tall. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition- no structural issues or cracks, but with lots of rustic wear to the clay- there's small chips, nicks, pits, rubs- some original ... moreto the rustic making, some not- like on the round balls of the front. An exquisite 19th century oak carved corbel of a religious figure. Possibly Christ. The detail is truly excellent and beautifully carved in deep relief. The religious figure holds in his left hand a cross on top of the globe. Whilst his right is bent upward towards his heart. He wears a long robe. From which his foot is revealed. Beneath the figure sits deeply carved fruits. This is an exceptionally beautiful piece of carving. It stands some 17" high and some 3" wide. A wonderful addition to the collector or the home. Set of 2 Two Vintage Antique Architectural Gold Paint Plaster Corbels Brackets !
Hi: For your consideration here is a nice set of two(2) vintage or antique sconces or brackets! These medium to large size pieces measure a bit over 8 1/4" from the top of the shelf to the bottom tip. And the surface area of the shelf top is about 9 3/8" wide by 4 1/2" deep which is the maximum depth they would stick out from a wall when mounted. The pieces weigh close to two pounds each unpacked. They are made of what appears to be white plaster or a similar material and the gold finish looks similar to gilders paste/paint. There is a small wire rod in the plaster with a twisted piece of wire on the back of each for hanging. Both are in good condition with no major loss or cracks. Both have light to dark spots or areas in the top shelf part(3rd photo from last) and the other has several small chips and related finish loss. ... moreThe'worst' chipped area is shown in the last photo but there is nothing that could not easily be touched up. Description This is a pair of carved oak griffins or gargoyles with large wings. They measures 16-1/2" tall and 4-1/2" wide in front and 8-1/2" deep. I love it when something salvaged can live a new life as something else. These sculptures were adornments to the arms of a sofa. They make excellent bookends but why let your creativity stop there? This is a quite stunning gothic wooden oak corbel with the central grotesque head carving with fruits and other of which: During our research we have been informed it dates from the gothic period of the early 19th century and is of black forest origin. Dates about c1820. A solid oak carving. One of two similar being listed. Over many. Lot of 2 Vintage Lion's Head Shelf Bracket Supports Corbels
These two plaster lion's heads purportedly came from the old Aragon Ballroom in Chicago during the 20's and 30's but take that bit of trivia with a grain of salt as that is what we were told by the seller. My wife and I have had them since 1963 and they were old when we acquired them at an auction outside of Chicago. We used them as decorations for many years but they no longer suit our decorating style. They are being sold as a pair. They measure 14" tall. 6" wide and 8" deep. They are made of plaster and have brackets molded into them through which I installed bolts to support them. They weigh a bit over 8 lbs each. One has some damage at the top where it supports the shelf but I think that is easily repairable.

This piece dates to the mid 20th century. And is made of an early cast foam material(which was first produced in the early 1940's and later became known as styrofoam/polystyrene. Set of 4 Arched Victorian Farmhouse Porch Post Braces Corbels w/ Spindles - VGUC
Set of four arched Victorian or farmhouse style porch post brace corbels with turned spindles. These are solid wood and have been painted. The arched portion of all four measure 7" from the inner corner out in both directions. While the sections that mount against the post measure 10 1/8" in both directions on two of the corbels and 9 1/4" in both directions on the other two corbels. Arched sections are 1/2" wide; mounting sections are 1 1/2" wide. I can only assume that the difference is due to the fact that they were handmade for the porch and are not a mass produced product. Unsure of the age of these corbels, but most of the older homes in my area that have these date from the late 1800s through the early 1900s. This exceptional 100+ year old architectural element was inadvertently salvaged when it fell from considerable height during a remodeling project of a church. The fat friar clutching his keys and lantern landed on his head and was rescued by one of the workmen who subsequently sold it to the consignor. It has remained in untouched condition with chips and loss to the edges and a flat spot on his noggin from the inauspicious landing. The piece has exceptional detail and great old surface of tarnished and verdigris bronze paint chipped and flaked away in places to reveal the original ragged/glazed parchment finish. It is cast of plaster reinforced with horsehair or similar fibers and is sturdy and over 90% intact with the gnarly old nails still sticking out of his back.
