Antique Wood Carved Corbel Salvaged victorian Architectural Trim parts Lot Set 4
Rare group of 4 salvaged fancy wooden corbels with swirls. Leaves, and barrel shapes and embellishments. Victorian feel, very old. AS shown in the photos, there are carving pieces missing here and there. Please examine photos carefully! As I have handled these. Small pieces have fallen off, so the glue has failed on some areas. Please note that I will wrap these very carefully but more pieces may fall off in transit, but a bit of wood glue is all you need to fix it. Size is approx. 4 inches by 3 inches. Each lion is 9 inches long at longest point and face is about 10 inches across. Top of corbel ranges from 3 to 4 inches as it is shown. Though I purchased this as a pair. One corbel has more gilding than the other and one weighs a bit more than the other. Beyond that they are a matched set. They could be painted. Projection is about 5 to 6 inches if mounted on a wall. Each corbel has two(2) pre-drilled slots for anchoring to wall as photographed. One such anchor area has a slight hairline fracture. Pair Vintage Victorian Wood Corbels Circa 1890 Gingerbread Brackets
This auction is for a pair of corbels. These corbels came off our Victorian style home about 5 years ago during a renovation. I had fully intended to put these back on our home but due to sickness was never able to do so. The home was built late 1880's- early 1890's. Corbels are weathered and may have chipped paint. Cracks here and there, some areas may be missing a little wood and a number of them have old termite damage on the end. The corbels measure 18-3/4” Long by 12” High by 4-1/8” wide. Size is approx. as the corbels are hand crafted and all are unique. I have taken pictures of a single corbel. A pair, and several pictures of them in a stack. This is for a pair of antique corbels or brackets. They are in very good condition. One does need to be glued back together(see pictures) and has been refinished. No broken or missing pieces. Nice old and heavy corner braces used for an accent on my son's older home. This auction is for two(2) vintage Corner Braces. They would also work fine for a shelf brace. Pictures: The 5th picture is showing the back of one and the 6th picture show the width of one leg while laying on the other. If you can't tell these are oak tree leaves and acorns. Also. Some of the pictures make the legs look like they are curved or bent, they are not- they are all nice and straight. They are white with chips of paint missing and the paint looks to be several coats over the years. They were located outside on a front porch so have not seen a lot of direct weather. I am offering a beautiful VICTORIAN STYLE. WOOD FINIAL ON SQUARE PEDESTAL, ORIGINAL DOWEL. This is a magnificent piece. It measures 6 5/8" high and the square pedestal is 3 1/4" There is some paint spattering on the side, about an inch line of paint and some very slight spattering up from that. Having worked in the antique business for many years, I would NEVER mess with the finish or patina. I could easily strip this off, but so can the person who wants this, at their discretion. Antique Gothic Architectural Element 19th century Carved Wood Reliquary Bracket
This most unusual architectural element of the early to middle 1800s is hand carved from rich. Dark brown mahogany and shows handsawn marks on the reverse. It is most likely European in origin and measures 18” tall x 30” wide x 6” deep and appears to have comprised the face of a corner shelf/bracket that supported a carved statue. Its center features a 10 3/8” diameter roundel with 6 1/8” inner diameter and a depth varying from 2 ½”3 ½” deep. I conjecture this area held a relic of the saint whose figure was displayed on top and the varying depth of the hole suggests a downward angle that allowed the object displayed to be more easily viewed from below. In any event, the surface is beautifully carved by a master craftsman and the surface retains the original rich French Polish surface. It is grimy with no bad losses…just some trimming ... moreand drilled holes on the bottom tip where its was incorporated into other woodwork elements.
