4 Antique Victorian Era Wood Corbels Farm House Shabby White Orig Square Nails We just got back from a wonderful vacation out to Wyoming and South Dakota. Stayed at a fabulous B&B in South Dakota- made even more heaven by the fact that they also had an antique store on the property. I shopped in several other locations in both states and brought home some great primitives. Advertising, pottery, and all in all interesting finds. Before I left, I went to a new farm auction, and an estate auction- so I have a BUNCH of new items this week- I’ll be posting every day, so be sure to check back! I love these wonderful corbels. There's so many things you can do with them- from using them on/in your house. To making them shelf brackets, to decorative accents. They are original late 1800s farmhouse corbels, and they are awesome. Made from solid ... morewood, it's a matching set of 4, all with layers and layers of old white paint- thick with it, and it's shabby worn, crackled and chipped of in many spots. I left the old square iron nails just as I found them- they are sticking out of the wood, so you have to be careful when you remove them. Each corbel measures 10 3/16" by 6 1/4" and the wood is a solid 1 3/4" thick. Each one weighs a little over 1 lb. All are in excellent solid and sturdy condition except one, that is missing the very tip of the end of its short side- see photo 12 where I'm showing you the chipped one on the right and a non-chipped one on the left. It's missing the very curly up piece on the top- it's shallow, so it's really hard to notice. When you look at the photos of all 4 corbels together- it's always the one on the far right- see how hard it is to notice? I'm sorry for the foggy pictures- it's so steamy here right now, my camer lens keeps fogging up! Up for bid is a set of 8 or 9 pieces of architectural antique porch brackets. Also referred to as corbels, which make up 4 pairs. Each bracket spans 26-1/4" long across the soffit or frieze portion of your porch at a height of about 14-15" down from the frieze or soffit. Each bracket is approximately 1-3/4 to 2" thick and is painted with several coats of white paint. Most are in exceptional condition for their age, believed to be from the mid to late 1800's, though there are a few, which have a missing piece of wood here or there. There is also a portion of a ninth bracket, not complete that will be included, so that parts of this piece can be cut off to replace what might be missing on the others. The corbels measure 24" high. 5" wide, and 19" deep(however the ones with the attached trim measure closer to 22" deep) I have tried to show as much as I can with the 12 pictures available, but have taken additional photos(5 of each corbel showing each side, the top, back, and bottom) There are some pieces missing here and there on the corbels, I guess to be expected when they are this old. I will likely ship two to a box(20 X 20 X 25) and each corbel weighs about 17 lbs. So, please double the shipping charges shown- I will send a final invoice for total payment due. Wonderful group of four primitive antique architectural carved wood plinth blocks including a teardrop shape flat back trim piece measuring 10" tall and 2-1/4" deep; a triple ringed bulls-eye plinth measuring about 6-1/4" square by 1-1/4" deep; another bulls-eye or rosette plinth measuring 5-1/4" tall. 4-1/2" wide and 1" deep; and a lovely and an unusual elongated plinth or corner block carved down with a ribbed three leaf clover measuring 8" tall, 4-7/8" wide and 1" deep. All bear original old paint full of chipping, rubbing, paint shrinkage and loss- does not detract a bit. I've been displaying these on my mantle for years- they have a neat architectural look and would be a fun addition to any collection or home! Rare group of 4 salvaged fancy wooden corbels with swirls. Leaves, and barrel shapes and embellishments. Victorian feel, very old. AS shown in the photos, there are carving pieces missing here and there. Please examine photos carefully! As I have handled these. Small pieces have fallen off, so the glue has failed on some areas. antique architectural corbel - 4.6 pounds - Real wood
I love corbels and the history that go with them! They are getting harder to find because they are usually found on historical homes under the eaves. This particular one is solid wood and was put together in sections. Can you imagine how much work these took to make in bulk for that particular house? Amazing. You can see some of the original finish but at some point some black was put on it and then it was lightly hit with some spray paint that Lowes sell that gives it a rough texture. Thanksfully. They didn't use a lot of the product so it will be much easier to sand off. This would look amazing painted in an eggshell cream and lightly sand the edges to give it back its aged look. It is 4.5 pounds~ It is 11 inches tall from top to bottom, widest part of the base is 6 inches, width at the top is 9 inches, the base is 6 x 6. Antique Vintage 4 Matching Solid Wood Salvage Architectural Corbels
These are 4 matching corbels which are in very good condition. They have no missing parts and no rotten wood with only normal wear due to age. They are made from solid wood and weigh about 3 1/4 pounds each. Can be used for any architectural project that you might have. They measure 16 1/2" high. 4 1/2" wide by 5" deep at the widest point. I really do not know the age of these corbels, but for safety purposes, I did remove large cut nails which were used to fasten them to the house, I hope this helps with dating them. They are guaranteed to be authentic, not reproductions. Thank you for looking.
