There are loose black threads throughout, used to sew the rags into strips for weaving. There are less on the side that seems to have been up; likely the threads came off through use. But the rug shows little use- looks wonderful! This rug came out of a VERY dusty old attic, and really needs cleaning. That attic held many other long-forgotten antique hooked and rag rugs. 19th Century Hand blown And Etched Crystal Candle Holder
From my parents estate. This is a hand blown blown crystal candle holder. You can see on the bottom. Where it was removed from the rod it was blown on. The etching was done by hot needle and by hand. There is a crack in one of the candle holder, but it is secure and will not break from using it. Someone let a candle melt until it was gone. They must have forgotten to blow out the candle, before it reached the hole. Glass or crystal will break with heat. Luckily this cracked in the inside of the glass, you can not feel the crack, there are no rough edges. This was made by my great grandfather, in the mis 1800's. it is authentic! It is stunning! It would make a great center piece for a table. It is approx. 8" from candle holder to candle holder and approx. 7" tall. Pair Antique Brass Push-Up Candle Sticks Holders 19th Century English 10" Tall
Offered is a matching pair of Antique B r ass P ush- U p Candlesticks, almost certainly 19th Century English. These are an estate find(I will be listing other candlesticks from t he same estate in upcoming weeks) They measure 10 inches tall. They each have one joint that is a bit loose(the bottom joint. Above the base) So there is a slight wobble to them. The push-up mechanisms appear to be stuck(soaking them in hot water can often free the rods. 19th century antique girandole candelabra depicting an interesting scene of good versus evil; to the left of the dove-holding. Winged cherub are four characters- medusa, a crone, an older male figure, and a faun/satyr- and to the right are another four- blind justice, an adult woman, a preacher, and an angel. Grapevine, flowers and doves makes up the rest of the candelabra. Brass, marble and glass. One is so old and used there are some holes worn through on the base where it has be picked up and set down probably several thousand times. Both candlestick push ups work properly and they stand about 4.25 inches tall. Please view all the pictures carefully as they are a important part of the description.
