Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Up for bids is this Pair of Antique 19thC French or Bohemian Cut Green Opaline Glass Candlestick Holders. These lustre candlesticks are probably French or Bohemian and were made in the mid to late 19thC. These candlesticks are made of a light green opaline glass and are very finely cut with a diamond pattern and are also faceted. Each of the candlesticks are hand blown with ground and polished pontils. On each of the candlesticks necks there are 7 holes for hanging prisms. This is a very fine pair of lustre candlesticks that are very similar in quality to Baccarat. Each candlestick stands 12 1/8" tall and have a diameter of 4 3/4" There are no chips. Cracks, breaks, or repairs to either of the candlesticks. The bird figures on each side have been outlined in red that has an iridescent gold tone to it in some lights.They stand 4 5/8" high. Are 3" wide at the base and almost 1 3/4" deep. 2 Vintage Clear Glass Chamberstick Candlestick Holders with Handles
Here is a very classic pair of 8-sided chamberstick holders for taper candles. The holders have 8 sides both on the base and on the top where the candles fit in. The handles really add to the style. I do not know the maker of them as they are not marked and came from an auction. Nor do I know the age other than they are old. Size: 2 1/2" tall. 4 1/2" base point to point, 1 7/8" top point to point, and a 7/8" round opening for the candle. Condition: Very nice for vintage pieces-there are a couple of barely noticeable rough spots-see the last 2 pictures. Please ask any questions before bidding. PAIR 71/2" Antique Elegant Hand Blown Art Glass Clear Candlestick Candle Holders
VERY UNIQUE- Pair 7 1/2" Antique Handblown Art Glass Candlesticks- Candle Holders! These interesting candlesticks were gifts to my mother back in the 1930's. They were in an antique shop in North Carolina that was owned by my Great Aunt and Uncle. These candlesticks are unique. They feature a'swirl of glass' at the base. Both have unique glass'bumps' on the sides and each has a glass'hook' near the top. The glass is thick when you look down into the top. I think they look like trees with bumpy outsides and swirling roots. Mom thought they looked like melting candles. In my amateur research I could not find another pair like them and neither could the collectors I consulted. The candlesticks are about 7 1/2 inches tall. They are about 3 inches wide at the base and 1 inch across without the'hook' 1 1/2" ... morewith the hook. CONDITION- The candlesticks are in very good antique condition with no cracks or breaks and all of the bumps and hooks are intact except for one chip on the base. Each one features a glass dish with 12 glass prisms that hang down 4" with a circle shape at top and long pointed prism at bottom. They are in very good condition with no cracks or repairs noted; however. There is a tiny chip on the side, hard to see(last pic) but you can feel it.
