This auction is for a pair of Vintage cobalt blue prisms& bobeche set from Czech-circa 1940. These stunning colbot prisms look amazing on these very unique clear bobeche that have a slight blue color to them. The Bobeche are 3 1/2" wide with a 1" hole to fit a standard candle. The cobalt blue drops measure 2" long and the bottoms are approximately 3/4" wide. These are all in remarkably good conditions for being over 60 years old. The color on all of them are the same colbolt blue and there are no chips or scratches on the prisms(holders and candles are not part of this auction) The set comes with 2 bobeche and 16 prisms. The bobeche have a tinted blue color and accent the pieces very well. These have been stored away for several generations from my ancestors and kept in their original packaging. I don't know if they are companions. I bought them together at a local sale. The footed holder measures 4" tall, 3" wide(base slightly wider) The shade measures 4" tall. Both pieces are in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. Neither piece is marked. However being very old glass there is grit and carbon debris in the composition and this has caused minute air pocket bubbles in the cut surface of the pieces. Sort of like flea bites. I tried everything to get brighter pictures too, inside outside, flash, bright light. None seems to have effect of making these be stellar looking. I get the aqua and amber piece to show up and the cobalt goes almost black and near non visible. Each is about 6" tall. the nipple ends have puckles or indentures and I am not sure if they are signed or these are scars but it is not damaged chips. More like impressions. They will support a 3/4" tall candle or flowers for that matter like hearse limo vases.Small science projects found ... morein the narrow aperture wells of each piece. I had to use a hat pin to get down into two of them it was age related tightly packed dirt and debris. Some lime scale coating to the amber& aqua pieces and it can be hidden from view with wax, clear lacquer or googone remover- which is the easiest to work with and cheapest.Best guess age 1830-70's by the type of glass and the wire. Total weight before packaging 246 grams 8 oz. Our shipments with Canada Post are based on weights for smaller items. Weight and density for larger pieces and orders. It is in good used vintage condition with a very small chip on the top corner and on the right front edge and a small chip on the bottom edge. Unfortunately they seem to be newer chips. I am not 100% sure it is flow blue but there is blue glazing marks on the bottom and a few areas on the body of the piece. I will leave it up to the buyer to decide. The cobalt blue color is bright and rich. Both candlesticks are in pristine condition with all edges being smooth. No cracks, chips, crazing or flea bites. They both DO have a small"mold line" at the base and one has a"bubble" inside the glass at the base. Also from when it was molded. Not noticeable unless held up to the light. They each measure 7.5" high by 4" wide at the base. Why is Pattern Glass Sometimes Described as Pressed Glass? Sometimes the term pressed glass is used generically by antiques dealers and novice collectors to describe pattern glass. While this type of glass is a form of pressed glass due to the way it was manufactured. The terms ... moreused by avid collectors to describe it are Early American Pattern Glass or simply pattern glass. Early American Pattern Glass(EAPG) was made using molds of one or more parts depending on the size of the piece being made. And molten glass was pressed into the molds. One of the Bobeche is marked"made in Czechoslovakia" They are part of a limited collection of antique crystals preserved by my grandfather who collected these in the 1940's.
