Pair of 3" Dia. Elegant. Faceted Leaded Cut Crystal Candle Holders These elegant multi-faceted Leaded Crystal Candle Holders came from my Aunt's estate. She probably bought them in the 1950's or 1960's and probably in San Francisco. They may not have been new then either. The heavy 3" diameter globes will bring out the best in your candelight dinner with tiny speckles of rainbows from the beautiful prism cuts. Each piece weighs 1 lb 14 oz. I have looked all over them with a magnifying glass and there is no evidence of molding lines. All edges and facets appear to be cut and polished. The candlestick hole is round and the spherical cavity is undercut from the entry hole. This was probably blown in as the glass cooled. There is no maker's mark that I can find on either piece. The earliest known example is a blue glass fragment from Nippur dated to 1400 BC and is mentioned in clay tablets from the reign of Assurbanipal(668–631 BC. Lead glass also occurs in Han-period China(206 BC– 220 AD) Here it was used in cast to imitate jade, both for ritual objects such as big and small figures, as well as jewellery and a limited range of vessels. VINTAGE PAIR OF CUT CRYSTAL IN BRASS CANDLE VOTIVES / VASES
This is pair of vintage cut crystal set in decorative brass cnadle votives or perhaps small vases? They are very old and not with out minor flaws. First of all the larger one(4 inches in diameter by 3 1/2 inches tall) has a small abrasion to the edge of the crystal on one spot. You can feel it when you rub your finger around the edge. I tried to photograph it for you. It is not like a chip or crack but a rough edge. The smaller one(3 inches by 3 1/2) does not have that but you can see a rim of silicone(visible only on the bottom) connecting the crystal to the brass stand. There is no residue on the sides. Up for auction is an antique heavy cut crystal Lismore style. Trumpet shaped crystal, 2 piece hurricane lamp. Brilliant cut technique and very closely resembles the work of Waterford. Unsigned. Measures 10 3/4 inches tall with the top measuring 6 1/2 inches across and the base measures 4 1/2 inches across. This is big and weighs over 4 pounds 8 ounces! Lamp has been glued to the base using clear adhesive. Welcome to my auction This one is: ESTATE FIND This auction is for: 2 Vintage Candle holders with hanging Crystals Both have 8 leafs with crystal Prisms(missing one) Metal tops and base that looks like brass but I'm guessing a cast metal. Bottom marked: L&LWMC#9320 1974 Measures approx. 8 1/2" inches tall with a 4" inch diameter base. In very nice shape with great eye appeal.
