This wonderful early to mid-twentieth century wardrobe stands only 47 inches tall to the top of the mantle with a top surface height of 44 inches. It measures 40 inches wide and 18 inches back to front. The open closet on the right facing side of the wardrobe is 19 1/2 inches wide by 16 inches front to back and is 36 inches tall, with 32 inches clearance below the hanging bar which runs front to back so it allows full size hangers ... moreto fit within the cabinet with two additional cloak hooks on the side walls and room for extra shoes on the bottom of the case. Love this Antique White Gentleman's Wardrobe.it measures 5' 10" tall 3' 1" wide. It measures 2' feet on the inside. It is in excellent used condition. I was excited to find this piece and fell in love with the scroll work on the top edge and on the door. On the inside it is beautiful walnut with a mirror mounted on the door( no cracks) with brass clasp to hold it into place. The door pull is in a tear drop and that just makes the whole piece work. Hi There. I am selling my 20th century British Shrager vintage. Antique wardrobe. It is a very unique and elegant wardrobe that I fell in love with when I first saw it. The wardrobe is wood and wood laminate backing with two glass windows inside. Dimensions: 20"L x 36"W x 69 1/2" H. The condition of the wardrobe is good. It is functional and ready to use now. But there is room for reconditioning to really bring out its beauty to"like new. The finish has some imperfections from its age. I do not have the key to the lock on the door. WORKS OK but Sold as"In need of cleaning and restoration" COMPACTOM Ltd. of 143 Regent Street. London was an early twentieth century company which specialised in"Compactum" wardobes for gentlemen. They made some higher quality models but also lighter"Campaign" quality models for Officers to take with them when sent on tours of duty between the wars. The vendor's father was one of these officers but sadly the wardrobe itself was beyond repair when inherited some years ago. Years of sun in the North African desert had totally destroyed the wood! For sale is a great antique wardrobe or armoire made of quartersawn/tiger oak wood that will hold a lot of things. The wardrobe is 73" wide x 76" high x 20" deep on the outside. The beveled center mirror on the front is 50" x 18" Each door is 56" x 20" each dovetailed drawer is 33" x 10" and the storage area in each side is 54" high x 34" wide. This wardrobe does easily disassemble into about 10 pieces with the largest piece(the base) being 73" x 18" high x 20" deep. There is carving at the top of each door, there are no cracks or breaks in the mirror, the base has bun feet, and the wardrobe has dentil moulding at the top. Classic Vintage Antique "Chifferobe" Wardrobe Armoire Early 20th Century
This is an early 1900's antique"chifferobe" or"chifforobe" or"chiffarobe" I.e. wardrobe with 5 drawers and a small mirrored door on one side, and a full size wardrobe door on the other side. Behind the full size door is a place for hanging garments with an iron hanging rod. A couple of the drawers need some work but everything else functions normally. Beautiful wood grain with wear and tear that would be expected for age of furniture. Has been in continual use for 75 to 95 years! The inside of the chifferobe is somewhat more rustic than the exterior. One drawer bottom is quite interesting(see photo# 6)I don't know if this wooden crating material was a replacement or if it originally came that way. Either way. Smaller'hatbox' compartment has original beveled mirror in the door. Larger door on wardrobe side locks and also has the original beveled mirror. I had to reset the mirror as it had wiggled down and once inside found the label from the glass company in Tennessee dated August 1907(didn't think of it at the time. But I should have taken a photo of the tag) Inside this long side, is the original metal rod for your hanging clothes. It is original, sturdy, and strong. This chifferobe stands 64 inches tall outside. English 1900 Antique Armoire. Wardrobe or Closet, Beveled Mirrors. Hand carved in England. This early 1900's armoire, wardrobe or closet has beveled arched mirrors in both doors. The original finish on fruitwood is very well preserved, it has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are warps. Mars and shrinkage separations from age for character. Mirrors have a little antique"smoke" to show their age. Hardware is original, there are no keys, modern magnetic catches secure the doors. Inside are original clothes hooks, sides were later lined with cedar to protect from insects. This historic furniture can be disassembled for easier moving. This is a quatersawn oak 2 door wardrobe with a bank of lingerie drawers in the center. It looks to have been refinished in the 1970's or 80's as the finish has a nice mellow look to it. This wardrobe was in some disrepair. My husband restored it using new wood for the long door and the drawer bottoms only. The facia is all original. There is normal aging and stress marks. There was some square nails in the construction which somewhat ages it. The pulls are new as the original wood pulls were not all there. This lovely extra large antique mahogany armoire or wardrobe with gorgeous wood grains and veneers. Manufactured during the early 1900's in England or Scotland was recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh Scotland. It offers beautiful organized storage for even the largest wardrobe. This early twentieth century wardrobe offers a large double hanging closet with a hanging bar with multiple sliding cloak hooks on the bar as well as cloak hooks around the inside of the closet. This open closet space of course could easily be fitted with any of the the modular storage systems available in most major department stores if that better served the needs of the new owner. The opposing single closet is fitted with three removable shelves which makes four large functional cubbies. The decorative doors on this wardrobe include beautiful veneer ... morepanels on the two outside closet doors and a large arch top beveled mirror on the center closet door. The design of the piece includes decorative metal hardware as shown and it appears to be both original and intact. This wardrobe does have a currently working lock and a key. Though I never guarentee old locks. The real highlight is the gorgeous wood used to create this piece and craftmanship that went into making it into such functional storage space. This is a high quality piece with dovetailed drawers and sturdy construction. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the construction, design, condition and beauty of the piece, though pictures just don't do it justice. I notice the bonnet was not quite seated on top when I shot these photo's but it does fit tightly and helps hold the wardrobe together as per design. Antique Belgian Armoire Wardrobe
This wardrobe has been in our family since my great great grandfather won it as a prize in a pigeon-homing contest in Herentals. Belgium when he was 20 years old. It has been passed down from generation to generation and traveled with us to the states when we immigrated in the 1990s. Unfortunately, it no longer fits in our small apartment. The cabinet was made in Mechelen. Belgium around the turn of the century(1900) The lion heads in the upper corners are typical for the Mechelse style. The cabinet exterior is in its original condition and has been extremely well cared for. It is a beautiful piece. The cabinet's interior has been modified over the years to include several shelves, a hanging rack to store glassware and a slide-out shelf. Each drawer is 6-1/2 inches high. 18 inches wide and 15-1/2 inches deep. They have machined dovetailed drawer fronts and nailed backs. They are as found with some minor nicks and dents on the surface and one drawer shows more wear to the bottom of the sides, used more. Each drawer is drilled for 3 inch center hardware. The grained finish is worn but original. There are no major cracks or bows and they both need a good cleaning. This beautiful old original piece that has been in the family for years has a graceful domed top with three drawers below. The front drawers have flowered stenciling and beautiful original drawer pulls. The doors have a strong patina. It's interior is clean cedar. The right side has a pull out bar for hanging your clothes and the left side has 2 shelves and two drawers. Original strong back and bottom.The measurements are 39 1/2" wide. 21" deep and 62" high. It has been used in a bedroom/guest room and living room. An eclectic fine piece for any room. Armoire has slight normal wear for its years. Slight chips at bottom. Local pick up only.
