And some deeper darkening from age and years of use and oxidation to the finish. There is some edge and corner wear. Some minor cracking and some finish wear. But the integrity of the piece is solid. The applied decals are decades old and fades, soiled and worn. I have not tried to remove them, though at some point in the past that have been worn away or cleaned off in part. This small chifferobe has been painted white with the interior of the wardrobe left unpainted. The inside of the door is varnished wood(has a sticker remnant) There is a piece of trim missing at one side at the bottom edge. The remaining piece of stair-step style trim dates this as being from the 1930s to early 1940s. The hardware has been replaced. Sturdy. No damage except that already mentioned. this is a really cool piece. its very old. it was hand painted and distressed. this was done very well. The white paint usually gets on you when this is done but this was sealed in and really done well. you can rub all over the chifferobe and the white will not get on you at all. its in good shape.

Vintage (1900-1950) Chifferobe Armoire Wardrobe
I've own this wardrobe for 30 years. It was given to me by a neighbor. I've used it for all kinds of storage: linens. Seasonal clothes, accessories, etc. It measures approx. 54" H x 39" W x 18.5" deep. Four drawers, a shelf, and a hanging rod that slides in and out. I tried to capture the exterior condition. I've never refinished it. It has some small issues on front and side bottom(see pics 5& 6) And the varnish"beads" in a few places. The top probably needs to be refinished, it has some marks. Structurally it's sound. My 13 yo told me when she was small, she played Narnia with it. The inside looks good. And to me it has a nice"peppery" smell. The drawers are dove-tailed. Love this Antique White Gentleman's Wardrobe.it measures 5' 10" tall 3' 1" wide. It measures 2' feet on the inside. It is in excellent used condition. I was excited to find this piece and fell in love with the scroll work on the top edge and on the door. On the inside it is beautiful walnut with a mirror mounted on the door( no cracks) with brass clasp to hold it into place. The door pull is in a tear drop and that just makes the whole piece work. Classic Vintage Antique "Chifferobe" Wardrobe Armoire Early 20th Century
This is an early 1900's antique"chifferobe" or"chifforobe" or"chiffarobe" I.e. wardrobe with 5 drawers and a small mirrored door on one side, and a full size wardrobe door on the other side. Behind the full size door is a place for hanging garments with an iron hanging rod. A couple of the drawers need some work but everything else functions normally. Beautiful wood grain with wear and tear that would be expected for age of furniture. Has been in continual use for 75 to 95 years! The inside of the chifferobe is somewhat more rustic than the exterior. One drawer bottom is quite interesting(see photo# 6)I don't know if this wooden crating material was a replacement or if it originally came that way. Either way. It's been like that for as long as I can remember, and I'm 57 years old. Truly. This ... moreitem would make a great display piece for an antique clothing boutique or for great storage for at home! Dimensions: approximately. 45" in width. 63" in height, and 22.35 in depth. A little bit of history: My grandparents were married in 1919. This chifferobe very likely dates from the very beginning of their marriage. If not. They certainly acquired it sometime soon thereafter. It was a fixture in their home for decades. And my widowed grandmother continued to use it throughout her adult life up until her death in the early 1990s. So this is truly an original vintage item with quite a bit of age on it. TRIVIA: In"To Kill a Mockingbird" The character Mayella Ewell pays Tom Robinson a nickel to"bust up" an old chifferobe for her. This incident becomes central to film's major courtroom drama.

Smaller'hatbox' compartment has original beveled mirror in the door. Larger door on wardrobe side locks and also has the original beveled mirror. I had to reset the mirror as it had wiggled down and once inside found the label from the glass company in Tennessee dated August 1907(didn't think of it at the time. But I should have taken a photo of the tag) Inside this long side, is the original metal rod for your hanging clothes. It is original, sturdy, and strong. This chifferobe stands 64 inches tall outside. It measures 43 inches across the front and is is 21 inches deep, including the tips of the two lovely victorian rounded feet and tips of the glass pulls. ... morePlease excuse the triangular point of a wall decoration behind this piece) It has ample storage space with the smaller compartment and all the drawers. GA in 1973. We found papers that suggest he served 30 plus years. These items were purchased at auction, were neatly stored by his heirs, and not touched or used for almost 30 years. Beautiful Old Antique Chifferobe Wardrobe/ Dresser W/ Mirror- with Wheels This item was purchased to add to our home collection of Vintage and Antique Furniture. We've decided to sell off some of the items as we simply have no more room. I'm not an antique dealer or expert and do not want to misrepresent the items. We've taken many pictures so you can decide for yourself. I did notice several SAW MARKS which may indicate the age, and believe the wheels are wooden, but still need to clean them to see. Other than using the safest wood cleaner on the market, we've done nothing to it. One back wheel ball is missing, and there is a chip on the back board on lower left side as pictured. This is on the back and is not visible unless you turn it around. We have another wheel from a bed that may fit. But not sure. These wheels are ... moreavailable on Ebay. Antique Chifferobe Wardrobe Dresser early 1900s
No shipping. Best I can tell this is at least 100 years old so I guess it can be called Antique. The beveled mirror is very nice. Sometime maybe back in the late 70's or 80's the old finish was stripped off. The photos of the mirror frame are close to it's color. Maybe about the same time the drawer pulls were replaced. It has it's share of some dings and age cracks. The floor in the closet is water stained and a bit warped. The lighter photos are more what it looks like. To the top of the mirror stands about 6' 5" If you have any questions please ask before the last 12 hours. If you need more photos I can get them. Take notice of the wood embellishments on the doors and carvings and bun feet. I believe the wood is walnut and this was taken in bright sunlight so it is darker in color when inside. The back of the chifferobe is stamped“MINTZ& MINTZ FURN 541 BARONNE ST NO” The chifferobe has two wardrobes with hanging bars. One on both sides(see photo) four deep drawers with dovetail, and a hat box with a mirror in the center. The entire piece is covered in various exotic veneers with fine attention to design and detail. The chifferobe has been stripped of its finish down to the original wood and the door/drawer hardware is missing.
