Pair of antique SOLID BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD Armoires for Restoration Project
I am selling here a pair of antique brazilian rosewood( dalbergia nigra) armoire frameworks. Dating from the early 1900s, and made originally in Brazil but in french style. These armoires are great for a restoration project, and ideally they should be made into a couple of valuable glass display cabinets. I need to explain further what happend here: the exquisite SOLID rosewood panels were sold years ago to a guitar luthier, for a price much higher than the armoires(as such) themselves would command, and I was left with these two carcasses, which I am now selling. The first photo was taken from one of the actual pieces, taken before the panels were removed, and you can see that the wood is of a light kind of rosewood, but I can guarantee it is dalbergia nigra; the other photos show the armoires with the panels already removed and partially dismantled( they can be assembled and dismantled easily) and you can see that the rosewood of the other armoire is of a darker, more appealing type. These armoires can be made into some awsome display cabinets, simply replacing the wood panels with bevelled cristal glass( the last photo is forillustrative purposes only, and shows another armoire which I turned into a display cabinet) alternatively one can add new wood panels. Never stored or weather exposed. This wardrobe is very old and beautiful. Its solid wood structure(including the back) is all original. It can be taken apart. Antique Wardrobe / Armoire, Solid Mahogany, Possible Entertainment Center
This is a great old heavy solid mahogany wardrobe which I believe is early 1900's. It has been in my family for at least 60 years. The outside was refinished with a blond antiqued finish many years ago and is still in fair to good condition. It is very solid without any loose joints. The inside is all solid mahogany drawers which appear to have their original varnished finish. The drawers are in excellent condition for their age and do not need any refinishing. A few of the dovetail joints are slightly loose but really do not need any attention. There are seven huge open-front drawers which glide in and out easily. It's been in dry storage for the last 20 years. The caning on the doors was done at the same time as the refinishing and is in excellent condition. At one time there were apparently fabric panels in the doors. The hardware ... moreis still there if you want to stretch fabric behind the caning. The doors come with the original brass key and working lock. In my opinion. This wardrobe can be used as is without major refinishing. Or you can restore the outside to the original mahogany finish. There are a few cosmetic issues: A small piece of the hand-carved detail is missing on the top of the right door. Also one piece of narrow dental molding is missing from the left side of the lower panel of the right door. It's fairly simple dental molding and would be easy to recreate with 1/8" dowel and a triangular file. These defects are not very noticeable until you get close. There is also a middle cross support visible in the photos. If the top drawers are removed. This support can be a shelf to turn this armoire into an entertainment center. It would accept a TV up to 31.5" wide(about 34" to 35" diagonal) The lower drawers could house electronics and media. The measurements are 64" high. 36" wide at the top, and 23" deep. This wardrobe is heavy but fairly light with the drawers removed. You will need to arrange for your own pickup here in central NY, 13413, near Utica. Ema

Antique Wardrobe BIG 7 Foot Solid Oak Wardrobe Freestanding Wardrobe
My best guess is this wardrobe dates back to late 1800's or early 1900's. I can tell you its been sitting in the same house since it was built in 1910. So its at least that old, but still in nice condition. It does have surface wear scratching as pictured, but its all cosmetic with no major damage, it is missing the lock. This is a BIG piece of furniture that stands 7 foot tall, is 49" wide, and 20" deep. Solid oak antique piece. Very sturdy, super heavy, bring help when you come to load it as it is in a basement and we have a few steps to deal with lol. Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for looking!
