Solid and fully functional as a portable closet or a shelved storage cupboard. Original hardware. Inside and out. Ready to use. Same owner for over 35 years: non-smoking and pet-free. Never stored or weather exposed. This wardrobe is very old and beautiful. Its solid wood structure(including the back) is all original. It can be taken apart. Knock Down" making it easy for two people to transport it. The finish is in very good shape. There is no top piece with this wardrobe; we have used an antique linen Piano Scarf draped over the top. However it looks very nice without the scarf as well.

Vintage (1900-1950) Chifferobe Armoire Wardrobe
I've own this wardrobe for 30 years. It was given to me by a neighbor. I've used it for all kinds of storage: linens. Seasonal clothes, accessories, etc. It measures approx. 54" H x 39" W x 18.5" deep. Four drawers, a shelf, and a hanging rod that slides in and out. I tried to capture the exterior condition. I've never refinished it. It has some small issues on front and side bottom(see pics 5& 6) And the varnish"beads" in a few places. The top probably needs to be refinished, it has some marks. Structurally it's sound. My 13 yo told me when she was small, she played Narnia with it. The inside looks good. And to me it has a nice"peppery" smell. The drawers are dove-tailed. UPDATED INFO Vintage Antique "Chifforobe" Wardrobe Armoire Early 20th Century
This is an early 1900's antique"chifforobe" wardrobe) with 5 drawers and a small mirrored door on one side. And a full size wardrobe door on the other side. Behind the full size door is a place for hanging garments with an iron hanging rod. A couple of the drawers need some work but everything else functions normally. Beautiful wood grain with wear and tear that would be expected for age of furniture. Has been in continual use for 75 to 95 years! The inside of the chifforobe is somewhat more rustic than the exterior. One drawer bottom is quite interesting(see photo# 6)I don't know if this wooden crating material was a replacement or if it originally came that way. Either way. It's been like that for as long as I can remember, and I'm 57 years old. Truly. This item would make a great display piece for an antique clothing ... moreboutique or for great storage for at home! Dimensions: approximately. 45" in width. 63" in height, and 22.35 in depth. A little bit of history: My grandparents were married in 1919. This chifforobe very likely dates from the very beginning of their marriage. If not. They certainly acquired it sometime soon thereafter. It was a fixture in their home for decades. And my widowed grandmother continued to use it throughout her adult life up until her death in the early 1990s. So this is truly an original vintage item with quite a bit of age on it.

It came in on a load and the boys decided to touch up. But as they got going they decided the wood was so pretty that they ended up refinishing it. It has been all hand stripped, hand sanded, a dark oak stain applied and multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer have been applied. This is simply gorgeous, so do not get it confused with one that has had a haphazard finish as this has been professionally done. This wardrobe has a drawer on the base for storage. When you open the bevel glass mirror door, the inside reveals a hanging rod and hooks offering plenty of space. The overall size is 49 inches wide, 17 inches deep and approximately 75 inches high. It is a great looking cabinet. Honestly, the refinishing job alone would cost $425 if you had it done in the shop, so this price is incredibly reasonable. Edwardian oak triple wardrobe fitted with sliding trays and drawers; circa 1900-1910; finish is original. Excellent condition measuring 77.5 in L x 86.5 in H x 22 in D. Breaks down into four sections with one center beveled mirror measuring 52.5 x 17.5. Molded top cornice above two carved sections with a mirrored center door below. Two panels have carving in the Adams style flanked by trailing carved anthemion(stylized ornament of classical origin based on the flower and foliage of the honeysuckle) panels and reeding. Each paneled door flanks the center mirror door. The"closet" sections are raised on a plinth with two aligned drawers below.
