It has an elaborately carved floral and scroll crown and sides. Below the doors is a carved drawer as shown in the photos. It stands on carved cabriole legs and scrolled feet. Three adjustable shelves come with the armoire. As with all antique armoires. Wood supports can be placed in any of the carved slots running the entire length of the piece inside. An option for repurposing this armoire is to strip the silver from the mirrors, leaving the original glass thus making the armoire a display cabinet. Quite Sectacular Cabintry work this Louis XV Style armoire tht dates to the 1st Quarter of the 20th Century. Signed MERCIER FRERES, PARIS. MERCIER FRERES was a distinguished French Design and Furniture manufacturer founded in the late 19th century and continuing into the 20th. 1924 was the year Mercier Freres was chosen to represent France in the Grand Cental Palace in Exposition de Francaise de New York. I love to research. Am by far an expert but believe this dates to this time period. I have taken well over 35 photos of this piece(cannot figure out how to post more! simply to show how beautifully it assembles and disassembles-in which I have done several times which is why I have chosen the photos that I am posting. Should you have interest I am more than happy to share many more. Each time is like clockwork. Which simply shows the extrodinary ... morecraftmanship when it was created. I have enjoyed this wonderful piece for many years and did bring it on my last move with all intensions of being able to enjoy for many more-it is just too tall for my home and in need of a 10 foot ceiling to be appreciated. The Armoire is in wonderful condition and holds its original silk satin lining. I had left this for its antiquity and protection to the wood that appears to be in pristine condition. Please see the photos. The hand carved crown is in excellent condition, I have saved one photo spot for this which I will add by tomorrow night. The wood is solid walnut and walnut veneers. Assembled the armoire measures 104" in height- 8' 7" 56" wide at maximum point and just about 20" deep. It truly is in excellent condition for its age, has been well loved and cared for and it shows. As for freight/shipping cost the shop I am in uses Safe Ship and more than able to get you a cost. I do travel up north often-I would also be more than able to deliver for a minimal cost if you should happen to be within a few miles off of I-95 from Daytona Beach to Northern New Jersey. The front outer edging has an ebonised finish which contrast nicely with the walnut and highlights the fancy gilt mounts, It has a carved pediment at the top above a pair of panel doors which have walnut veneered and elaborate inlaid decoration. Each door has a vase of flowers inlaid in the centre, they also have ornate gilt metal handles and the wardrobe comes with lock& key in working order, It has a mahogany lined interior which is very clean& ... moretidy. Age: 1850-1899 This stately piece is designed to break down so that it can be easily moved. The side doors are bowed in shape and curve back at the sides. They are exquisitely designed with a marquetry. Beading with a pattern of Cross Cut Walnut in the center framed the doors. A beautiful oval medallion with an urn full of flowers at the center decorates the tops of the side doors. The marquetry work is incredible. The brass mounts adorning the exterior of the armoire have been molded with a leaf patterns displayed. The drawer shown has a primary wood of walnut with a secondary wood of oak. The locks do not work but I'm sure can be repaired. I never did anything with them because I never needed too. Take notice of the wood embellishments on the doors and carvings and bun feet. I believe the wood is walnut and this was taken in bright sunlight so it is darker in color when inside. It's in sturdy condition and some light scratches from age and finish wear as seen in photos. Great to use as the obvious or turn it into a TV cabinet. Item is for pick up only in Easton. Pa.
