And some deeper darkening from age and years of use and oxidation to the finish. There is some edge and corner wear. Some minor cracking and some finish wear. But the integrity of the piece is solid. ESTATE VINTAGE/ANTIQUE CHIFFEROBE WATERFALL WOOD PATTERN This 74-year old piece was part of a bedroom set purchased by my Grandparents on June 29. 1939 as their wedding furniture. See photos for receipt. It was purchased from Mintz& Mintz Furniture in New Orleans who closed their doors in January 1990. This wonderful piece has two wardrobes with hanging bars. One on either side, four deep drawers with dovetail, and a hat box with a mirror in the center. The entire piece is covered in various exotic veneers with fine attention to design and detail. Decorative trims and moldings accent the edges adding to the unique quality of this piece and helping it to stand out amongst its peers as a prize example of this formerly popular style of furnishing. Wardrobe, armoire all in one and is early 1900's bedroom furniture, as is evidenced by the mushroom drawer pulls, the sideways clothes hanging closet and brass Yale drawer lock. It is solid wood and uses half-blind dove tail joints. Fabulous vintage item would make a great addition for New York loft or efficiency living, to a child's room, guest room or to place your winter scarves, hats, gloves and sweaters. Vintage (1900-1950) Chifferobe Armoire Wardrobe
I've own this wardrobe for 30 years. It was given to me by a neighbor. I've used it for all kinds of storage: linens. Seasonal clothes, accessories, etc. It measures approx. 54" H x 39" W x 18.5" deep. Four drawers, a shelf, and a hanging rod that slides in and out. I tried to capture the exterior condition. I've never refinished it. It has some small issues on front and side bottom(see pics 5& 6) And the varnish"beads" in a few places. The top probably needs to be refinished, it has some marks. Structurally it's sound. My 13 yo told me when she was small, she played Narnia with it. The inside looks good. And to me it has a nice"peppery" smell. The drawers are dove-tailed. This offering is a delightful Antique Chifferobe. The quality is very. Very good, it shows that it was used carefully and only has minor scratches and ware. It measures 69" high by 39" wide with a depth of 18" Its features are 4 drawers, a Hatbox compartment and a full length area for hanging garments. Both mirrors have no damage but exhibit some image distortion that is typical for glass mirrors of this age. There is a chip just above the hat storage. And the second drawer is sloped, humidity] I have not tried to restore this peice in anyway, Item needs sanding and restained. Love this Antique White Gentleman's Wardrobe.it measures 5' 10" tall 3' 1" wide. It measures 2' feet on the inside. It is in excellent used condition. I was excited to find this piece and fell in love with the scroll work on the top edge and on the door. On the inside it is beautiful walnut with a mirror mounted on the door( no cracks) with brass clasp to hold it into place. The door pull is in a tear drop and that just makes the whole piece work. Classic Vintage Antique "Chifferobe" Wardrobe Armoire Early 20th Century
This is an early 1900's antique"chifferobe" or"chifforobe" or"chiffarobe" I.e. wardrobe with 5 drawers and a small mirrored door on one side, and a full size wardrobe door on the other side. Behind the full size door is a place for hanging garments with an iron hanging rod. A couple of the drawers need some work but everything else functions normally. Beautiful wood grain with wear and tear that would be expected for age of furniture. Has been in continual use for 75 to 95 years! The inside of the chifferobe is somewhat more rustic than the exterior. One drawer bottom is quite interesting(see photo# 6)I don't know if this wooden crating material was a replacement or if it originally came that way. Either way. It's been like that for as long as I can remember, and I'm 57 years old. Truly. This ... moreitem would make a great display piece for an antique clothing boutique or for great storage for at home! Dimensions: approximately. 45" in width. 63" in height, and 22.35 in depth. A little bit of history: My grandparents were married in 1919. This chifferobe very likely dates from the very beginning of their marriage. If not. They certainly acquired it sometime soon thereafter. It was a fixture in their home for decades. And my widowed grandmother continued to use it throughout her adult life up until her death in the early 1990s. So this is truly an original vintage item with quite a bit of age on it. TRIVIA: In"To Kill a Mockingbird" The character Mayella Ewell pays Tom Robinson a nickel to"bust up" an old chifferobe for her. This incident becomes central to film's major courtroom drama.

Antique CHIFFEROBE. ARMOIRE, CLOSET.c1907.5 drawers with original glass pulls.very clean except the last drawer needs some additional cleaning. Top drawer has WORKING lock. Smaller'hatbox' compartment has original beveled mirror in the door. Larger door on wardrobe side locks and also has the original beveled mirror. I had to reset the mirror as it had wiggled down and once inside found the label from the glass company in Tennessee dated August 1907(didn't think of it at the time. But I should have taken a photo of the tag) Inside this long side, is the original metal rod for your hanging clothes. It is original, sturdy, and strong. This chifferobe stands 64 inches tall outside. It measures 43 inches across the front and is is 21 inches deep, including the tips of the two lovely victorian rounded feet and tips of the glass pulls. ... morePlease excuse the triangular point of a wall decoration behind this piece) It has ample storage space with the smaller compartment and all the drawers. Would make an excellent addition to any bedroom. Or perhaps use it as a display piece in your shop. GA in 1973. We found papers that suggest he served 30 plus years. These items were purchased at auction, were neatly stored by his heirs, and not touched or used for almost 30 years. Vintage Antique Armoire Wardrobe Chifferobe Here's a lovely old piece of furniture dating to the 30's to 40's in the art deco style. Take notice of the wood embellishments on the doors and carvings and bun feet. I believe the wood is walnut and this was taken in bright sunlight so it is darker in color when inside. It's in sturdy condition and some light scratches from age and finish wear as seen in photos. Great to use as the obvious or turn it into a TV cabinet. Item is for pick up only in Easton. Pa. We are 1 1/2 hours from New York City and Philadelphia. The piece was made by Roaring River Furniture Corp. Manufact. Roaring River, Wisc. and was sold at H. Coleman& Sons, Bethlehem, Pa. Antique Vintage Chifferobe - Beautifully Restored!
This antique Chifferobe is functioning the way it did when it was brand new with all the character of years of use. Built between 1915 and 1930(having metal drawer hardware rather than wooden knobs) It was in really rough condition so we rescued it. While refinishing the cabinet and drawers. We also cleaned and refurbished all the hardware, key and lock, and casters as well as replaced both broken mirrors. Nothing is missing and everything works as it did when it was new. We hope someone out there appreciates it as much as we do. All original patina and finish can be not be mistaken when gazing at this piece. A simple streamlined. Waterfall style top flows down to the left side long wardrobe door. Someone has added shelves to the wardrobe side that can easily be removed. In addition, the right side consists of 4 deep drawers and adds some movement and pizazz to this simple, elegant piece. Subtle minute details like dovetailed drawers and original elegant stylized pulls complete the piece. It measures 61" tall. 35 3/8" wide, and 21" deep. It is sturdy and in good condition.
