This oversized piece is extremely high quality, and remains in great condition. This piece features a full-length bevel glass mirror in the center door. Three hand-cut dovetail drawers on the bottom of the piece, and triple door access. This piece also has a beautiful cross-grain mahogany veneer with burl panel highlights. The bronze finished brass ormolu embellishment is completely intact. And the crest is crown molded with a brass cut out center. The two outside serpentine doors retain their original brass Victorian style hardware and mirror the two outside doors. Which are also in the serpentine fashion. The extra large wardrobe measures 74” wide. 106” tall, and 24” deep on the outside. The left& center doors open to expose a compartment that is 18” at deepest. 52” wide, 57” from the floor of the compartment to the shelf; from the shelf to the top is about 16 inches. Here is an absolutely gorgeous early to mid-twentieth century burl walnut wardrobe with fabulous carved handles and functional compact storage inside a gorgeous somewhat diminutive wardrobe. With overall dimensions of only 62 inches tall by 30 inches wide and 18 inches deep, front to back. In addition to the gorgeous burl walnut veneer on all sides but the back, the fabulous hand carved handles really make this wardrobe special. I do have a key for the lock on the door which will be included though I never vouch for a long lifetime on an already old lock set. This wonderful piece is in very nice condition inside and out with a top large shelf across the inside 28 inch width and measures 15 1/2 inches deep with 8 1/2 inches clearance above. It has a set of five rounded edge shelves 10 inches wide by 14 inches deep with9 inches of clearance ... moreabove each down the right side of the cabinet below. The open cabinet space below on the left. Pictures do not do this piece justice. This piece was purchased by my mother-in-law from Walter Cantrel in western North Carolina sometime in the 1950-60s. I would guess it is from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is certainly custom made. The work is beautiful, the walnut on the door fronts has a beautiful grain, I could go on and on. In a medium ... morebrown color, it has burl walnut panels on both the oversized doors and across the front of the dovetail drawers. The fancy brass hardware on the hinges, handles, and keyholes are all intact and in good shape. The piece has a carved crown molded top, dovetail drawers in the base, and when the doors are opened, it exposes a shelved interior on one side, a hanging rod on the other side, and a hatbox area on top. Bears the makers label for"Walnut Cabinet works London" Pl ease view my other 200 plus items for sale in my ebay shop! The WARDROBE is in good overall used condition and are ready to place in the setting of your choice. It is a very ornate piece and has a lovely French feel. The front outer edging has an ebonised finish which contrast nicely with the walnut and highlights the fancy gilt mounts, It has a carved pediment at the top above a pair of panel doors which have walnut veneered and elaborate inlaid decoration. Each door has a vase of flowers inlaid in the centre, they also have ornate gilt metal handles and the wardrobe comes with lock& key in working order, It has a mahogany lined interior which is very clean& ... moretidy. There is a single internal shelf and 2 hanging rails which run from left to right, it also has a mirror to the reverse of the R H door, The Wardrobe splits in 2 large sections for ease when transporting. The top and the base also detatch, Ideal for those tight staircases. Condition The Wardrobe is sound. Sturdy& 100% free from woodworm, it has 1 nick to the veneer on both back corners, it also has a couple of slight indentations to the ebonised detail on the front L H side and one very faint scratch, the rest of the woodwork is in good used condition which is commensurate with a Vintage used item. Serpentine shaped body with a bombe base and with scalloped cornice tip and cross banded frieze above a large central mirrored door with a serpentine front and with a single inlaid door to either side all with ornate gilt handles.
