Gorgeous Solid Tiger Oak Armoire (More Pictures Added)
Most oak armoires are boring. Bulky pieces of furniture with little style or excitement. Here's one that will change your opinion. The beveled mirrors are in excellent condition as is the finish. Note the hooded gallery with reflective mirror as well as the mirrored door. The closet part as well as the drawer interiors are clean as a whistle. All of the applied carvings are there, no losses. The re-finisher decided not to take the time to polish the original hardware so he just used replacements, however, I do have all the originals(you can polish them) I've added pictures of the original hardware that was originally on the piece showing the detail. Please note, the pieces are still dark. I changed the setting on my camera to show all of the pieces and how they might look polished up. It's in truly excellent condition with only minor flaws to the finish(as minimally seen in photos) No major damage. No chips, cracks, etc. Piece is super high quality construction. Imagine going back to the 1900's. This piece is from England and it's made by Garnett& Sons from Warrington and Southport. It was purchased in Oxfordshire. This is rare and I have looked up the cabinet builders who have a long history of quality furniture. This piece does show it's age. But has been used as a bedroom set for the last 3 years with no issues by a teenager and is solid. However, I am NOT an antique collector and purchase items based on my home and interest. I love this piece, but it is too big for my current home. The back upper right piece in the'closet' Has been screwed back together because of age and moving over from England. Antique Wardrobe BIG 7 Foot Solid Oak Wardrobe Freestanding Wardrobe
My best guess is this wardrobe dates back to late 1800's or early 1900's. I can tell you its been sitting in the same house since it was built in 1910. So its at least that old, but still in nice condition. It does have surface wear scratching as pictured, but its all cosmetic with no major damage, it is missing the lock. This is a BIG piece of furniture that stands 7 foot tall, is 49" wide, and 20" deep. Solid oak antique piece.
