A large rectangular mirror on the single cabinet door, and exquisite paneled accent carvings on either side of the mirror. The bevelled edge mirror is very clean almost suggesting that is has been replaced but I found no evidence to support that it is not the original. The cabinet door has an ornate solid drop pull and the drawer has two large decorative bail pulls. The skirt is arched on the side of the piece and there are scalloped brackets on the front. The interior is paneled and has two mounted hooks and 6 sliding hooks on the hanging bar. A very nice piece in remarkable condition for the age(circa 1890) this armoire is certain to become a cherished heirloom. Condition: It has some age appropriate signs of wear including scratches. Antique European English Oak Armoire Late 1700's- Early 1800's All Pegged
This is a beautiful antique wardrobe of English origin. We believe this piece dates to the late 1700's/early 1800s. Constructed from oak. This is a solid piece of funiture with peg construction. The overall dimensions of this piece are: height = 75 5/8" width at base =57 5/8" depth = 20" The top of this has a crest with dental molding. The cabinet at the crest measures 21 5/8" x 60.5" The armoire has two doors on the top case that have locks on them. The left door has a key and locks but we do not have the key for the right side. Both doors have brass knobs and hinges on them. I believe these are original pieces that have been polished. This top section measures as follows: width = 54" depth = 17 13/16" The inside dimensions for each side are: 25.5" wide x 46.5" height x 16" depth. There ... moreis a wall between the two sections. Both sections have rods for hanging clothes. Beneath this section is a bank of four drawers. The drawers are pegged as well. There are cracks on the top two drawers that have been repaired. It also appears on the inside of the drawers that the handles were replaced. This piece is made from two sections and can be broken down to move it. There are appropriate signs of age including scratches. Dings, divets, cracks, and losses to the wood. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. Pyjamas, woolens, and underwear on the other side. On the inside of the door is a horizontal spring marked ties and scarves. It is 30” wide x 63.5” high x 17.5” deep. This piece is in Dallas TX and you must come get it. This piece has gorgeous and modern detailing on the sides. Nice acorn legs, brass detailing on the locks and the bevelled mirror, original to the piece, is in great shape. This breaks down all the way into very easy to move pieces. This large early 20th century wardrobe offers two hanging closets, each with a hanging bar and one has a 10 inch deep campaign drawer in the bottom for storing shoes or boots and a full size beveled dressing mirror on the central closet door; three large blind pull out tray shelves, behind that door along with a dresser with three large drawers. The inside of all the closets and shelving is lined in a yellow fabric which is overall clean and in good condition for it's age, adding a finished touch. The design of the piece includes an interesting construction technique that highlights the quartersawn oak wood and decorative metal hardware. This is a high ... morequality piece with dovetailed drawers and brass drawer pulls and I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the construction, design, condition and beauty of the piece, though pictures just don't do it justice. This large wardrobe stands 86 inches long by 80 inches tall and 26 1/2 inches deep. Front to back. The two side closets are each 25 inches wide by 20 inches front to back by 73 inches tall. In the left side facing closet there is 68 inches clearance below the hanging bar. antique English dark oak art nouveau ARMOIRE ~ wardrobe ~ CLOSET with mirror Greater Chicagoland-area local pick up/delivery only(Saint Charles. IL- Far west Chicago suburbs) Up for auction: A gorgeous. Old, oak armoire, closet or wardrobe. It has a beveled-mirrored door and one drawer, offering tons of elegantly hidden storage. I believe it's English, based on its instructional tag: This Wardrobe when dismantled will pass the narrowest stairway or passage. Instructions: Unscrew cornice and plinth from inside of carcase. Hold the door. I can't be certain, but believe it likely dates to the early 1900s. I had too many photos to include one of the patent number(small tag nailed inside the drawer) which reads: PROVL.PAT.NO. 86004-20. The inside compartment has three hooks across the center back top. And one hook on each side. The drawer ... moreis dovetailed. The mirror has a simple bevel. My photos aren't the best- sorry- bad lighting. I think. It's a medium-dark oak. Beautiful! Condition: Overall. For it's age, I think it's in nice vintage condition with age-appropriate imperfections. I think it displays beautifully(and is superbly useful) By way of flaws: 1) the left side. Center, shows a split(where two oak panels meet) it bows out slightly. I don't think it's really distractive, but could probably be remedied by the handy; 2) there's a 2" x 1/2" chip on one side, near the back, relatively near the bottom- hard to see; 3) can't really see it, but the bottom skirt is angled a bit, with a small split on one side; 4) the mirror I think is totally functional and charming as is, but has spots of loss of silvering and minor imperfections; 5) in the drawer, you'll see there are wood support blocks(these came with this- I assume for the underside- that look supplementary supports) that probably could be glued into position for additional support(I haven't investigated; the closet seems fine as is) 6) the door handle has pulled a bit with a small break in the metal- still

The original finish on fruitwood is very well preserved, it has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are warps. Mars and shrinkage separations from age for character. Mirrors have a little antique"smoke" to show their age. Hardware is original, there are no keys, modern magnetic catches secure the doors. Inside are original clothes hooks, sides were later lined with cedar to protect from insects. This historic furniture can be disassembled for easier moving. This is a large wardrobe that is from England and brought to the US by an American Soldier in the 1980's. It is a very nice piece with very few flaws. It has a mirrored front door with the original door and draw handles and key. It also has the original inside hanging bar and hooks. It has a wide over hanging top and one draw at the bottom. It comes apart in 3 pieces. The top molding piece, the center with the mirrored door and the bottom drawer piece. Inside the right door is a variety of hooks and a fixed wooden shelf while the left door houses a taller open space with a rod. The three drawers slide easily and are made with dovetailed drawer joints. The left door and all three drawers lock with the one included key. The key does not work for the right door. This armoire comes apart in three pieces(crown. Large center section, and base) for easier shipping and moving. We are giving this piece a good condition rating. It is sturdy and solid and all of the doors and drawers function well. There are some minor cosmetic issues to point out. The left door’s oval panel appears to have been replaced. The top right corner of the crown has some small damage. The left side of the wardrobe has two age separations(the right side has one at the base) and an old scratch. Also on the left side is some very slight damage to the inlay on the crown towards the back. General wear is present in the form of small dings and marks throughout the piece as you would expect from something of this age. Whether you need a piece for clothes storage. Great antique wardrobe. Original bar, hinges, and key. Not sure of origin-have found no markings. Has few nicks and scratches. Age seems to fall around early 1900s. I have used it as a wardrobe and it fits more clothing than you would think! Bar has sliding hooks. Shelves and a desk top could easily be added for an enclosed office/craft cabinet. Couple of missing screws on door sliders at the base. Very good and functional piece. As I said before, was used as closet and has also been used as a shoe closet-lots of shoes! Antique English Oak Armoire with Original Key
Beautiful English oak armoire with a wonderful beveled mirrored door. Measures approximately 77 inches high and 40 inches wide with 16 inches in depth. Has the original key and the lock works. There are no shelves. Instead it has brass hooks as well as a center hook. Probably had a refurbish a long time ago but still gets a lot of compliments. The draw works and is complete. Interesting round metal handles. This is a delicate unit that should be separated into three pieces to move it. Will do a 100 mile radius drop from Newport RI for an additional $200.
