Three adjustable shelves come with the armoire. As with all antique armoires. Wood supports can be placed in any of the carved slots running the entire length of the piece inside. An option for repurposing this armoire is to strip the silver from the mirrors, leaving the original glass thus making the armoire a display cabinet. I would guess it is from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is certainly custom made. The work is beautiful, the walnut on the door fronts has a beautiful grain, I could go on and on. It is a nice size, not too much bigger than the tall dresser we have, so should be a great addition to even a small room. There is a tag on the back that is very hard to read. This large early 20th century wardrobe offers two hanging closets, each with cloak hooks and a foot deep campaign drawer in the bottom for storing shoes or boots and a full size dressing mirror on the door; three large blind shelves, behind a set of smaller mirrored doors; and a dresser with four large drawers. The design of the piece includes straight line carving, decorative metal hardware and dentition across the bonnet but the real highlight is the gorgeous mahogany wood used to create the piece. It is solid wood and uses half-blind dove tail joints. Measurements: Overall: 37 inches wide. 20 inches deep and 56 ¾ inches high. Knobs: 1 1/8 inches deep/ Drawers: 18 inches wide. 9 ¾ inches high-all except top drawer which is 6 ¾ inches high. Door: 15 ¾ inches wide and the inside is 19 inches deep and 15 ½ inches wide. MERCIER FRERES was a distinguished French Design and Furniture manufacturer founded in the late 19th century and continuing into the 20th. 1924 was the year Mercier Freres was chosen to represent France in the Grand Cental Palace in Exposition de Francaise de New York. I love to research. Am by far an expert but believe this dates to this time period. I have taken well over 35 photos of this piece(cannot figure out how to post more! simply to show how beautifully it assembles and disassembles-in which I have done several times which is why I have chosen the photos that I am posting. Antique wardrobe/armoire. I have owned this since the 1970's purchased from an antique dealer. Was told it is turn of the century. Knockdown type. Pictures really show the condition. Antique Oak Armoire w/Single Door/Drawer & Beveled Mirror Knock Down
We are pleased to offer this beautiful and functional antique armoire. This piece dates to the early 1900's and is in great condition for the age. The wardrobe body measures 34.25" wide x 16.25" deep. The crown molding at the top measures 39.75" wide x 20.25" deep. This has a single door fronted by a beveled mirror. The mirror is in good condition and there is a small area that the molding that holds it in place was replaced. This can be seen in the last photo. The inside has mounted hooks around the top. There is no rod and there are no shelves inside this unit. There is a nice deep single drawer at the base that has dove tail joints. There is a keyhole on the door and drawer but we do not have a key for this. There are age and use appropriate scratches and dings on this. Vintage Cedar wardrobe closet armoire, Lakeside Craft Shops, Sheboygan, Wis.
THIS IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY A pre-owned cedar wardrobe tagged inside with a metallic label from Lakeside Craft Shops. Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It measures 35" wide x 75" tall x 25" deep. It is easily be taken apart for moving and I have done that more than a few times. I used it as a closet. A computer stand and for storing out-of-season bedding. It has been painted the color it is now which is Colonial Pear. When I used it as a computer stand, holes were drilled into the back to accommodate wiring. It would make a nice TV stand. The condition is mostly very good except that when breaking it down this last time, the floor of the closet spit along the grain lines in two places. It still fits together tightly because of the way it split. The door needs a catch. It has served me well over the years since I purchased it at Goodwill ... moremany years ago. This beautiful wardrobe has a dome crested top over two fielded panel doors with carved detailing above a single drawer being raised on bracket feet. To the interior is full lngth hanging by way of hooks but a rail could easily be added if wished. The wardrobe is in good ocndition as you can see with no splits. There are small signs of very old and treated worm which are in no way detrimental to the wardrobe and mentioned here only for accuracy. Circa 1900's Louis XV Cherry Armoire We are pleased to offer this very nice Circa 1900's Cherry Armoire in the Louis XV style. This piece comes from France and is very solidly built. It has two drawers on the bottom. One behind the door with the lower drawer having a sliding cover. The door is very heavy and covered with birdseye maple on the backside, very unusual. The inside is very clean with 3 adjustable shelves. Comes with two keys for locking the drawers only, the door does not have a key but it can be made if desired, however it does open and close just fine. The mirror has a frosted look to it and to some it can use re-silvering but it is not bad at all the way it is, adds character. Armoire Antique ,wooden, dark mahogany color, about 3 ft tall.
This Armore is vey nice and has been in my home since 2009 when I first moved into my apartment. It has some polish chip on the top and side but other words in great shape. It stands about 3 1/2 feet tall and is very flexible with what you chose to do with it. It has three shelves. 2 of which can be removed to make room for a t.v. or what ever else you decide to put in it. It has a removable backside for hooking up games and T.V's and much more. It is a great buy and comes in very useful.
