Guaranteed 100% 30 day guarantee to be authentic pre Columbian pottery. I bought a collection, the collectors are no longer with us so I'm having a difficult ... moretime with it but I'm sure it's all old. I probably won't list it all at once, but it's all pre Columbian and guaranteed to be so. I won't lie about regions or centuries because I don't know all that and don't have time to become an expert.Selling 4 pieces, they're all four very heavy like store, but appear to be made from clay. The larger 5" head appears intact, the other pieces seem to be missing limbs possibly.

PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT JAMACOAQUE This is a very expressive piece of authentic Pre Columbian pottery with a very realistic face almost ... moreGrecian looking. Very heavily lidded eyes in a peaceful expression. The figure is wearing a headdress that is more like a cap over the hair with decorative earrings that have deep notches with some remaining red paint. Hopefully these are not the ears. It looks like button earrings in front and the figure has a nose ring and a lip plug. The back shows the remains of part of a necklace. It measures 2 1/2 inches high and will stand upright by itself as the circular base with a hole in it is flat. The head is hollow and has evidence of heavy black mineral deposits on one side. Basic clay color is a gray beige. There are also traces of red paint on the face. Keep in mind that this is not a burnished surface and the texture is rough and the close up photos are to show condition. At a regular viewing distance the head seems more normal looking and the condition is very good with very little damage and no repairs. It is from a private collection and is Jamacoaque culture.

This ancient antiquity is a Chupícuaro head fragment from a Chupícuaro fertility effigy. I bought this in San Miguel. Mexico( located in the ... morefar eastern part of the state of Guanajuato) at an estate sale in the early 1970s when I was living there during the summer. The effigy fragment still has remnants of red paint. The nose and mouth. And left side are broken off. It measures 1 ½ x 1 ¼ x ½ inch depth. Stand not included. There is also glue residue on the back as the fragment as it was once attached to a velvet backed display case. Chupícuaro(a pre-Horizon culture) fertility effigies were placed into the dirt by a Chupícuaro farmer during the planting season to appease the goods to insure a bountiful harvest. Subsequently. After centuries of being plowed or tilled over, the heads usually break off from the bodies. Chupícuaro Excerpt from Wikipedia. The free encyclopedia The Chupícuaro culture was located in the mountains of central Mexico and is named for the area in which the artifacts have been found. It is an important pre-Hispanic archeological site from the late pre-classical or formative period; located west of the Mexican Plateau. On the hills nearby the Lerma River and its tributary Coroneo or Tiger River; which currently under water because of the Solis dam. Just 7 kilometers from Acamaro in the Guanajuato State, near the Michoacán State border in Mexico Little is known about the history of this site. And it was not until 1946, due to a dam construction, that the first explorations were performed, discovering pottery objects and tombs. The place is currently below dam water, although there are surrounding areas still being explored. According to several sources. It is believed that this settlement developed between 500 BC and 300 AD, although some scientists suggest an older development, as far back as 800 BC. Establishing a firm chronology for Chupícuaro has been very problematic. Due to a lack of stratigraphic excavations and reliable C 14 dates.

PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT POLYCHROME 4 INCHES JAMACOAQUE
PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY FRAGMENT HEAD ECUADOR Very well detailed polychrome pottery head fragment from Ecuador from a private collection. It measures 4 inches high and is 3" wide across the top of the head. Remainder of red slip gloss paint on the headdress. It has heavy lidded eyes that project outward. Nose ring and ear adornments. The head is arched backward and the back is a high glass black brown tone. Side pieces are missing but the head is in excellent condition. The nose phtographs flattened on the end but it is not and the nose ring is very heavy looking and rounded which destorts the nose. This figure has not been cleaned so there is still dirt and debris that you can see in the photos. It is solid and can be drilled for mounting as it will not stand by itself. I believe this is Jamacoque or possibly La Tolita. Clay has glistening ... moreminute crystal formations that reflect ih the light. I am not an expert in this type of pottery so please look carefully at the photographs and feel free to ask questions.

Pre-Columbian Mexican effigy axe head
EFFIGY AXE HEAD I offer for sale a pre-Columbian effigy axe head of origin in Mexico. The axe head was given to my family 60 years ago by a Mexican farmer. My family was in the fresh produce business with growers in Sinaloa and Sonora. Mexico. My mother was interested in archeology and in particular ancient Mexican cultures and was thrilled to receive this axe head. The artifact has remained in our family for six decades, little compared to the centuries it has survived. The following are two emails from some of those I contacted. I found a couple of fairly similar effigy axes in the online catalog of the American Museum of Natural History(AMNH) New York, that were collected in the late 1930s by an archaeologist named Gordon Ekholm. So I emailed your pictures to a colleague of mine who works in Sonora and Sinaloa. I’ve attached his reply ... morebelow. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for sharing this fine example of Sinaloan workmanship. As far as I know. These tend to be found between approximately the Sonoran border and about Culiacán; this area corresponds roughly with the Huatabampo tradition within Sinaloa, although we found a similar though cruder dog effigy maul at Rincón de Buyubampo, located within the Serrana tradition(formerly referred to as the Alamos or southern branch of the Río Sonora tradition) of the Sierra Madre foothills. I don't know if they might have an Aztatlán tradition affiliation or not-I'll try and let you know what I discover. As to their phase/dates, I believe they are mostly associated with the Guasave period(1000-1450 CE) of the Huatabampo tradition. Recently I contacted relevant departments at the University of Arizona and was connected with authorities who offered some leads. One collector who made a generous offer. Suggested that this effigy axe head is made from a stone used further south in Mexico, perhaps in the Yucatan and was eventually brought to Sinaloa centuries ago where it was discovered 60 years ago. I cannot offer a definitive history of

PRE-COLUMBIAN INCA CAST BRONZE STAR MACE HEAD
In the time of the Inca a variety of weapons were used for war. According to information on the internet“flurries of arrows. Sling stones, and javelins preceded hand to hand combat by troops who wielded maces, clubs and spears… The preferred weapon was a stone or bronze star mace mounted on a wooden handle about 1 foot long” The mace head we are offering here is in the form of a six pointed star. This type of mace was produced in several types of stone. Copper and bronze. Some were not even true stars but had crenelated edges; others were made in the form of five and six pointed stars. These stars frequently vary in size from 2-2 ½” to 4 ½” across. The date on these items that we most often see is 1200-1500 A.D. Many good examples may be viewed on the internet at websites that specialize in pre-columbian objects. Our star mace is ... morecast bronze and weighs approximately 6.5 ounces. It measures just under 3” across measured at the widest point with a center hole diameter of approximately 7/8” The mace is in good original condition. We’ve done nothing to it since acquiring it in an estate auction about ten years ago along with several other pre-columbian items. It has a wonderful dark almost black patina with vestiges of historic residue in the“nooks& crannies” The mace has no breaks. Cracks, chips or historical repairs. This is a handsome piece and a very nice example. If you have any questions regarding this item, please do not hesitate to contact us. SHIPPING/PAYMENT: Buyer to pay actual shipping& insurance costs based on weight and value. There is an additional 1% material and handling charge on all transactions. Pre Columbian Mayan Pacal large Wooden Head Sculpture Palenque Mexico
Up for auction is a Large Wooden Sculpture of the Mayan King Pacal from Palenque Mexico. This carved wooden statue measures 14 inches high and about 6 inches wide. This came out of a collection of items from the Americas and I think was collected in the 1970's. This would look nice in an office or study. There is some writing on the bottom but it is hard to read. Please look at photos. I have not tried to clean this item. I leave that up to the collector. This is a very nice piece with a low reserve.

Wayne Kraxberger was with the University of Colorado(Denver) anthropology department in the early part of the 20 th century. And did extensive field research throughout the Americas. Much of his work in those years was with famed archaeologists E.B. ... moreRenaud and Frank Roberts, considered by many as the first to piece together the mysteries of the Clovis and Folsom cultures in North America. About 10 years ago my husband purchased what remained of the Kraxberger collection from his daughter in Denver. Among the hundreds of artifacts were these pieces from the famed Mayan city of Teotihuacan. While there was no log or paperwork on these pieces it is easy to surmise that Mr. Kraxberger visited Teotihuacan in his travels and brought these pieces home.

Pre-Columbian Face Portrait Head Trophy vessel w TL Test Doc! ceramic terracotta
Great cup in the form of trophies head. The special thing. And for that Moche ceramics are known, the representations of real character. The right eye looks normal, the left looks like it would be blind and covered by a cap. Or there is a breach by a fight. What is known, however, that physical abnormalities were honored and presented in part as a sign from the gods. The head has a nice haircut and earplugs, behind the ears are still remains of a helmet or similar. The processing is relatively massive and coarse, a typical sign of the late Moche. Small discontinuations(nose, edge of spout) bumps on the surface, otherwise in good condition age related. Due to its relation to the real brutal life of a deformed head has these ceramics a very rare and own charisma, a real collectable! See the price inclusive the lab test. Unbeatable! A Pre-Columbian Nayarit stone bird head pendant/ blade holder. Ancient Mexico, circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. This pendant is pierced for suspension. And was likely around the neck on a necklace by the ancient owner. The slit in the bottom and perforated holes were for mounting a sharp obsidian cutting blade, allowing the blade to be held and used either for practical or ritual purposes. The bird head shape appears to be that of the Roadrunner, indigenous to the ancient West Mexican region, and revered by ancient inhabitants there as a skilled predator. Measures about 1 1/4" long. A RARE and interesting artifact. Condition: Intact with a great ancient patina. Showing minor wear, weathering and general minor abrasions and chips. Pre-Columbian Colima Carved Stone Animal Head
This auction is for a rare and interesting Pre-Columbian Colima carved stone animal head. Possibly representing a Tapir(American native pig) circa 200 B.C. 200 A.D. Colima carved stone objects are rare. The carving most likely depicts the head of a Tapir. Which is a type of pig/hog native to the ancient Americas. The carving is quite detailed and animated, exhibiting a great deal of skill on the part of the ancient maker. Measures about 2 3/4" tall, made from a hard greenish colored stone known from the region, similar to the kind of stone that Mezcala stone figures were made from in nearby regions. Condition: Fragmentary. Possibly broken at the neck, although it may have been intentionally made this way, with the neck showing unfinished/rough stone material. Minor abrasions, scuffs, chipping, weathering and wear, with a small amount ... moreof adhesive residue from an old collection sticker on one side, that can probably be removed with acetone. Ancient Mayan Pre-Columbian Jade Statue Artifact Mysterious Head
I acquired this ancient Mayan statue when I visited Costa Rica from an antique dealer. This antique dealer told me that this belonged to the ancient Pre-Columbian culture that inhabited Costa Rica some 2000 years ago. This statue is indeed one of a kind! It is made of Jade and is shaped like a human head and has a very mysterious and ancient quality to it. I have had this figure re-evaluated in the States and I have been re-assured that this is extremely ancient belonging to the Pre-Columbian inhabitants of Costa Rica.

PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT FEMALE JAMACOAQUE AUTHENTIC
PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT ECUADOR JAMACOAQUE This is a very beautiful female Pre Columbian authentic pottery head fragment from Ecuador. My photos are close up to show detail but the figure looks more detail when viewed from a normal distance. It has remaining red paint on the elongated headdress front and back which has four unidentified three dimensional ornaments. The face has heavily lidded eyes and is wearing ear ornaments and has a collar around the neck. The expression seems very peaceful. One side lappet is missing and the nose and chin have some minor damage. It measures 2 7/8 inches high and 2" across the headdress. The face itself is 1 inch high.Unusual in that the base almost resembles a wine stopper with a rounded section that I have pictured. The fragment will not stand alone because of the rounded base. From a ... moreprivate collection that had Tolita and Jamacoaque head fragments but I believe this is Jamacoaque. Basic clay color seems to be gray as on the one side of the headdress but the face is lighter. There are tiny reflective crystals in the clay. Photos are a bit darker than the fragment. All damage and missing elements are pictured. This is an authentic fragment and not a reproduction.
