Which fits the standard residential 1 7/8" end post(they also made a larger 25 B and an even larger 25 A size) They measure about 4 1/2" tall. I believe this is either aluminum or some type of alloy, as a magnet does not stick to it. I believe this style of cap was used in the 1940's and 1950's. Antique hardwood newell post finial. Excellent condition with just a few age cracks(see photos) Unknown wood covered with a dark stain. The bottom is covered with a black felt piece. There is a hole under the felt about 1 1/4" in diameter. The bottom diameter is 4 7/8" and the finial heigth is 9 1/4"

Vintage Solid Bronze Gate Fence Post Large Ball Finial Topper
Here is a vintage all solid bronze Gate. Fence Post, Column Topper, Large Ball Finial. Left in as found condition with nice original patina. Measures 11" high the ball is 6" wide and the bottom opening is 2 3/4" Hollow center. It has a small dent, please see photo. Heavy item weighing 12 pounds. I put a magnet on it and it does not stick. Please inspect the photo's closely for they are considered a major part of the description. Questions welcomed.

Huge diamond facet cut crystal glass antique boule d'escalier newel post finial
Gorgeous antique newel post finial. Solid and extreamly heavy! The base is brass. And I have not seen many finials with such ornate detail on the brass base, so I would consider this quite rare. There is some slight damage to the brass where it looks like it was removed fom the newel post(I'm guessing) there are extreamly minor surface scratches on the crystal- but in remarkable condition over all. This piece is threaded on the inside of the base as well as having screw holes on each side of the base for mounting. Over all hight is between 6.5 and 6.75 inches overall.

A nd take note of the additional information on the right side of the listin g. This finial measures about 11" tall. The rectantgular base measures 9 1/2" x 7 3/4" It weighs about 4 lb 13 oz. I am not sure where this piece came from. I obtained it as-is. It has some condition issues(beyond the heavy ruse on the base) The metal on the sphere part of the finial has torn at the top and bottom(the bottom tear is pointed out in a photo below) The two halves of the globe don't sit quite right. And can be shifted easily out of position. The central screw needs to be loosened and the parts reseated to get a get a good fit. Last, the curling piece at the ... moretop of the sphere looks like something has broken off of the end of it. See images to see what you're getting. Additional photo(s) below. From a farm in western Oklahoma this was one of two original hitching post on the farm. My father picked this up at least 30 years ago and may have been closer to 40 years ago. He cleaned it and painted it with flat black paint and it has been on his book shelf until now. A great peace of American western history
