For-sale here are vintage antique fence finials salvaged from a gate on an old house in the New Orleans area. They are roughly 6 inches tall with a half inch by half-inch square slot in the bottom for installation on iron Post. The original color was black but they now have spots of gold and or silver spray paint on them they also have slight corrosion or rust in certain parts but can be refinished if wanted or can just be displayed as they are for decoration. Big French Green Opaline Glass Newel Post Finial
A lovely old French Opaline Glass Newel Post Finial. The Finial is made from a pale green opaline glass and the fittings are brass. When the light passes through the glass it is translucent and has an attractive paneled design because of the ribs. The Finial is BIG at 7 1/2" high x 3 1/4" in diameter. It has a threaded hole on the bottom which is approximately 5/16" in diameter. It is in very good overall condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The only thing to note is a small gap on the bottom of the glass where it meets the brass, it is very secure so it is probably in the making. The brass has 2 dents where someone used a tool to remove it from it's newel post, see photos. The finial looks great as a decorative accessory and would be perfect in a Victorian decor. Up for bid one cast iron finial in very good condition. I am not sure what this came off of. Someone told me a railroad crossing sign and someone else said a traffic light post. It measures 19" tall and the ball 5" in diameter and the inside diameter openning is 5-1/4" exactly.It has 4 set screw holes and is missing one screw. This is a wood carving of a mother goose that I'm told is one of a unique pair of old fence post finials. It's owners have repainted it at least a couple of times. But it still has a primitive/farm feel. It's spent most of it's life outside so it's nicely weathered. It's a very cool carving.

Antique Turquoise/Blue Newel Post Finial on Brass
This is a gorgeous Antique Turquoise/Blue Cut Glass and Brass Newel Post Finial. This Finial came from a southeastern Wisconsin Estate. It measures about 8 1/4 inches tall. Overall. It is in excellent condition(it has just a couple of small bubbles in it) No chips, cracks or repairs to the glass. The brass is very nice with a very nice patina. The finial weighs about 1 3/4 pounds. The finial has a slight list to it. It looks like when it was assembled or glued together, they did not set it in straight. I really think this could be reset in the brass base. Possibly by soaking the piece in gasoline or some other agent to dissolve the glue and then reset. It probably was never used and therefore the almost like new condition. Please see the last 2 pictures that show the slight list or misalignment. This listing features an old. Solid cast iron bird finial. I believe it was on a gate or fence since it has a threaded post on the end. It is painted white and there is the usual weather wear to the paint with some rusting as shown. I think it is wonderful. There is still some threading left on the post. The bird measures 3 1/2" tall and is 3 1/2" wide. The threaded post is 1/4" long and 1/8" in diameter. It is heavy weighing over 1 pound unpacked. Too sweet! All items I sell are either vintage or antique. So, there may be some less than perfect condition factor. Please note that I will state if the item is in excellent or mint condition.
