THREE STOOGES Rare Signed Photo & Letter EMIL SITKA the "UNKNOWN" Last Stooge
Offered here is a wonderful pair of THREE STOOGES memorabilia. A 1p. ALS, undated, 4 1/4" x 7" on the actor's personal stationery) and a signed/ inscribed b/w photograph, 3" x 3 7/8" both signed by Emil Sitka(letter is simply signed"Emil" EMIL SITKA(1914-1998) was the seventh(and last) man to bear the title of Stooge. In 1957, when Joe Besser left due to the illness of his wife, he was replaced by Curly-Joe DeRita in 1958. This trio of Stooges, Moe, Larry, and Curly-Joe, would go on to make several feature films- including HAVE ROCKET, WILL TRAVEL, SNOW WHITE AND THE THREE STOOGES, THE THREE STOOGES MEET HERCULES, etc. By 1965, the older Stooges were virtually done with slapstick comedy, and in 1969 a Stooges' travelouge, called KOOK'S TOUR, was scheduled to be filmed. Unfortunately, production stopped ... morein 1970 when Larry Fine had a major stroke(his left side paralyzed, Larry would die in 1975) The remaining Stooges then approached veteran comic Emil Sitka(he had appeared in some 40 Stooges' shorts) and he agreed to join the group. However, that trio never started any projects, and the death of Moe Howard in 1975 ended all hopes for another Stooges' project. Sitka, thus, became the truly unknown Stooge. Both items were sent to a"Peter" with the letter saying: Did you get to see the 2-hr. TV Stooge Special? I'm still on my memoirs and staying active. Fondly, Emil" Some light surface scratches and imperfections in the photograph; letter in fine condition(never folded)

On the web in a 1911 magazine I found an article about Miss Ross and it talks about her being the Supervisor of Nurses in the Indian Service and“one of the most consecrated women in the work. This is a very interesting article too because it takes place right before the time of this letter and I must quote from the article as I ... morebelieve it has some relevance to this letter… June 24 th. 1911, INDIAN LIFE IS CHEAP Then Miss Lucretia T. Ross. Supervisor of Nurses in the Indian Service, and one of the most consecrated women in the work, ventured to make a protest to the Assistant Commissioner. IMPORTANT HISTORICAL HAND WRITTEN & SIGNED 3 Pg LETTER BY P T BARNUM 1869
Up for auction comes this historical letter written by P T Barnum in 1869 at the time he was writing his book forty years recollections. This letter was wrote to a man named Stuart to go over an account that took place aboard the steamer Falcon on it’s way from Havana Cuba to New Orleans. On board was James Gordon Bennett Jr. and his wife. Editor and publisher of the New York Herald. Also on board was Henry Bennett who was an agent and worked for Barnum. James Gordon Bennett wrote some bad reviews in his paper for Jenny Lind and that angered Henry Bennett to the point that he wanted to kill James by way of throwing him overboard and drowning him. Barnum stopped him in a drunken rage that night aboard the ship and made public an account of it in his book, Chapter 20 page 120. The 3 page hand written letter by Barnum goes into greater detail ... moreabout that night. James Bennett was going forward on the ship to play with his monkey that he bought for his wife in Cuba( he was drunk most likely as where others) this is when Henry told the others he was going forward to through him over. There is more to the letter but this is the purpose of the letter, to get the account accurate for the writing of his book. The letter is written on his personal stationary written at Waldemere Bridgeport Connecticut July 13th 1869. At top of letter there is a written notation“ fro Mr. or Mrs. P. T. Barnum given me by Mrs. Paine HTL 1891. HTL is Hanna T. Lawrence of Bay Side Long Island. Hanna was from the prominent Bay Side Lawrence Family. I think her father or brother was Henry E. Lawrence, the son of Ann Townsend(fl.1802-1830s) and Judge Effingham Lawrence. You can do some more research going to the web site of the Lawrence family cemetery in Bayside. This 3 page letter is tip in a scrap book that belonged to Hanna Townsend Lawrence. I bought this scrap book from an estate who’s family came from a very prominent New York Family. The family was connected to Joseph& Henry Lawrence, founder and president of the United States Trust Co

Lamar, for example, was a close friend who shared Richardson's appreciation of the states' rights philosop
