Elsie's Girlhood" written by Martha Finley was copyrighted in 1872. The author has included a Preface in this particular book. Each book was published by Dodd. Mead& Company Publishers in New York. All 3 wonderful books about Martha Finley's heroine"Elsie Dinsmore" are in good to very good condition. All bindings are intact. There are no apparent pencil marks, underscoring or other damage to the books. Two of the books do have some folded pages in the beginning. We have shown one in the pictures provided. The other has less folder corners in the front, but a small nick on one of the folds. The artfully decorated linen covers are intact, and the cover and spine printing only slightly faded. We note some slight edge wear from being stored on shelves over the years. There is a nicely illustrated plate in the front of each book but no other illustrations. There is no writing or inscriptions in the front or back of the books. Each book measures approximately 4-1/4 x 8-1/4" and is about 1" thick including covers. Antique Books Lot of 2 by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Blue one is The House of the Seven Gables Arlington Edition and the Greenish one is The Great book of Recitations and Dialogues Three Volumes in One. Both published by Hurst Publishing Company. No Dates in either one except for the Preface in the Arlington Edition of 1851. However. That is from the original date of first printing and not when this book was first printed. These are probably early 20th centruy to the 1920s. All pages intact and connected. Paper is brown from age. Paper is thick. Spines are flexible and some of the pages at binding are not showing signs of loosening. Please refer to pictures for general condition. Lot of 3 Elsie Dinsmore HC Antique Books 1868-1893 by Martha Finley/Farquharson The three books in the lot include"Elsie Dinsmore" by Martha Farquharson that was entered into the State of New York's Clerk's office in 1868 and copyrighted in 1893. Elsie's Holidays" was written by Martha Farquharson(Martha Finley) and is listed as a"sequel to Elsie Dinsmore" on the title page. There is also a publisher's note in this book. Elsie's Girlhood" written by Martha Finley was copyrighted in 1872. The author has included a Preface in this particular book. Each book was published by Dodd. Mead& Company Publishers in New York. All 3 wonderful books about Martha Finley's heroine"Elsie Dinsmore" are in good to very good condition. All bindings are intact. There are no apparent pencil marks, ... moreunderscoring or other damage to the books. Two of the books do have some folded pages in the beginning. We have shown one in the pictures provided. The other has less folder corners in the front, but a small nick on one of the folds. The artfully decorated linen covers are intact, and the cover and spine printing only slightly faded. We note some slight edge wear from being stored on shelves over the years. There is a nicely illustrated plate in the front of each book but no other illustrations. There is no writing or inscriptions in the front or back of the books. Each book measures approximately 4-1/4 x 8-1/4" and is about 1" thick including covers.
