This is an early chromolithographed and jigsaw puzzle in the original box. The box cover illustration features a fantastic picture of Lady Liberty and the American flag. The box top is missing one edge but it still displays beautifully. The map features both"Indian Territory" now the state of Oklahoma) and Lower California which is now the Mexican Yucatan peninsula. The puzzle 100% complete with all 50 of the puzzle pieces as well as the matching paper key map dated 1887. Puzzle measures 18 inches by 12 inches when put together. This wonderful antique child's picture book is entitled AUNT LOUISA'S BIG PICTURE SERIES. MY MOTHER, published in New York by McLoughlin Bros. Hand written on the lower edge of the cover in pencil MAY H WAGAR 1877. I am assuming this was a gift for May in 1877. The book has five wonderful colored prints of mothers with children through out the years with a verse to go a long with the picture. The book is a soft cover with string binding. It measures apprx. 10 3/4" x 9 1/4" The first verse starts on the inside cover, no printing on the backs of the prints. Last verse is on the inside of the back cover. The back cover advertises Aunt Louisa's 36 children's books along with New Paper Dolls, Dolly Varden Dolls, and Chiromagica for family amusement. Vintage Antique McLoughlin Bros New York Cinderella series R. Andre 1897
Our Research identifies the book with this cover as being released in 1897-1900. But we cannot be 100% sure. Illustrator R. Andre passed away in 1907. This book measures 8 1/4" by 10 3/4" It has 6 pages not including the front and back covers. 6 full page illustrations are featured. The staples have rusted and the middle pages do have spots in the crease from this. The cover is separated about halfway up the spine. There is a 2 inch tear of the cover and first page and the top right corner is missing approximately 1/2" The pages are still off white with beautiful full page color illustrations. 1860's Dame Wonder's Amusing Alphabet Children's Chap Book McLoughlin Bros.
This auction is for a very old pamphlet for young children. Called Dame Wonder's Amusing Alphabet. This booklet was printed in the 1860's, I think. I found one other, nearly identical, on ebay. That seller claimed it was printed in the 1860's, so I will go with that, but I don't know for sure. It is really in pretty decent shape for its age. The front cover shows the worst damage. See photos. The interior is good, with some dirt marks. The illustrations and text are really good. The age is apparent when you look at the illustrations. Shipping to the lower 48 states is free.
