The first photo has a shadow on it which is me. Please ignore that. This is a wonderful old antique vintage stunning in person leather bound book that would look fabulous on anybody coffee table. It reads Funk and Wagnalls Co. New York and London 1929. It is a 1200 pictorial illustrated dictionary. It is 9" by 6 3/4" by 2" and has tight binding and very good gold pages on the edge. It has a hand carved jade stone insert that is 3" by 2 1/8" The jade insert has a 1 1/4" vertical line that I can not tell if it is the nature of the stone or a defect. See photo. I never noticed this line when I bought it and it is not note worthy. The cover has gold embossing and is a tan color and the back has a green tint. Two pages in vol. 8 had tears that are now repaired with archival conservation quality pressure-sensitive tape. No other restoration or'sophistication' No ownership inscriptions or ex-library marks. Overall condition: very good. These eight(8) small folio volumes measure 12 inches high. This set(which requires 7.5 inches of shelf space) is VERY HEAVY owing to clay-coated stock paper and heavy bindings. But UPS Ground(or USPS media mail) shipping within USA will be FREE. It is beautifully bound with a tree bark motif with gilded leather. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow(1807-1882) American popular poet. Best known for narrative poems such as Paul Revere's Ride and The Song of Hiawatha. Longfellow was also the first American to translate Dante's The Divine Comedy. CONDITION I have looked at all of the different representations of this book on line. Based upon this. I would rate this book as in very good condition. There is wear to the edges and spine. The binding is stable with no previous repair. All of the gilded edge pages are in very good condition with no staining or water damage. There are no loose pages. Notice the tape on the top of the Book's spine. I am not sure why the tape is on there. The pages have discoloration and foxing. The cover is separated from the Book at the spine, and the first few blank pages are loose from the Book. The rest of the pages are still attached together and I believe they are all present.
