I found a lot of Interesting family history. Based on other books that were purchased with this one. The book lot that I purchased at auction seems to have come from the New Haven, Connecticut area. Mary ended up in that area herself. I cannot make any guarantees, but I did take the time to try to find Mary. It appears that she attended college or school in Chillicothe Ohio. More. Mary Ann Fitz Sawyier b. 27 December 1822. D. 17 May 1912 Mary Ann Fitz Sawyier was born on 27 December 1822 in Chillicothe. Ross Co. Ohio. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Sawyier and Pamelia Anderson. Mary Ann Fitz Sawyier died on 17 May 1912 in New Haven. Connecticut, ... moreat age 89. 1860 Antique Song Book sheet music rare Longfellow 1st?
This auction is for a wonderful antique songbook: The Nightingale- A Choice Collection of Songs. Chants and Hymns! It is from 1860. It is by W. O. and H. S. Perkins and was published by Oliver Ditson and Co. at 277 Washington St. in Boston. The book has a hard cover and is bound with a strip of very soft leather or paper. It measures about 5" x 7" and is around 200 pages long. The book is well worn. It has wear and tear from age. And a number of the pages are loose from the book. There are also some pages missing(but none of the songs listed below are missing) There is a name written inside the back cover that looks like Ambrose Devereaux of Springfield, MA. The book is"designed for the use of Juvenile Classes. Public School and Seminaries containing also a Complete and Concise System of Elementary Instruction. There are pages ... moreon Musical Notation, with scale diagrams, practical excercises, and more. The book contains well over 100 songs. I believe the music is for voice or piano? One of the rarer songs in the book is a chant for the poem The Reaper and the Flowers by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This poem was originally published in the book Voices of the Night in 1839. This lot of songbooks and sheet music was found in an attic of a family member. I have tried to find out as much information as I could on them but really do not have the time to research the value of each one, Classic four hand collection"1890) I did find online for $100 in much worse condition then the one I have and many of the sheet music here is that old or older. Collected and bound book of antique sheet music by various composers. Hard covers with leather spine with four raised ribs. Measures 13-1/4" by 10-1/4" One composition is dated 1826 so this book may be from around that time or shortly after(early 1830's? All are composed or arranged for the Piano Forte. Most of the publishers are American. Boston. New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, etc. with two from London. Printed on heavier stock paper. The works/titles are: Hunters Chorus from Der Freyschutz by Meineke. Oh! Nothing in Live cal Sadden Us! by Hook. Will You Come to the Bower by Hance. Queen of Prussia's Waltz by Gelinek. The Cossack by Ferrari& Demar. CONDITION: Pages are securely bound to binding. Covers secure to binding. Endpapers slightly split at top but secure. Pages are not dry or brittle. The pages are tanned with foxing/age spots. Examples shown. Some of the music has light pencil markings around the note letters. There's a few scattered page edge border tears ranging from 1/8" to 1" with one of 2-1/2" Covers show some wear with leather spine splitting and chips. Laying flat, the covers show some slight upward bending as shown in my 12th and last photo. IMPORTANT NOTE: I ship all my items once a week every FRIDAY. Antique Sheet Music Ten Choice Negro Folk Songs: Carve Dat Possum! This estate sale find is an antique sheet music book titled. Ten Choice Negro Folk Songs for Voice and Pianoforte. It is published by Globe Music Company of New York and contains copyrighted music from 1896 to 1909. There are 32 pages. All written in period dialect like, Darkies Delights, Introducing: Carve Dat Possum. Please see picture of first-page index for other songs. The booklet is 9 1/4" x 12" and 2-staple bound. There are no major tears or disfigurements however; the center double-page has pulled through the staples and is loose. Easily fixed with two more staples or a little glue. Other than that and some yellowing with age it is in good useable condition. No odors from a smoke free home.

Published by Oliver Ditson(1811-1888) on 1856, this genuine sheet music is on wove paper and bound by original string. The front features a roundeletching of the burning of the Free State Hotel in Lawrence, Kansas, by a proslavery mob in May 1856. The roundel is flanked by a standing Indian and a settler, seated and holding a musket and Bible. Ho! For the Kansas Plains" was created as an antislavery song, dedicated to abolitionist spokesman Henry Ward Beecher. The sheet music measures approx. 14 x 10.75. There is considerable wear to the paper- toning. Foxing, edge tear and a tear in the middle of the sheet. Please make sure to look at all of our photo for sepcifics.
