Some rare, collector spoons I'm currently listing. Here is some history: Watch Hill is in Washington County. In the Providence-New Bedford metro area. In the 1600's. The Niantics, a Narragansett Indian Tribe, lived on this beautiful piece of land. The colonists used it as a lookout point during the French and Revolutionary wars. As a result this lookout post was named Watch Hill. In the 19th century, the Federal government bought the land for $500,000. In 1806, the famous Watch Hill Lighthouse was built. About 90 years later, Jonathan Nash, one of Stan's ancestors, the village's first lighthouse keeper, started to rent rooms in his house, and so the first hotel was born. With the extension of the railroad from Boston to neighboring Stonington, in the late 1830's, developers realized that the area, with its natural beauty, could be a prime resort. By the turn of the century, there were seven sumptuous hotels on the water's edge. Also, at this time the first"summer cottages" were built by a syndicate of Cincinnati industrialists. By 1920, most of the Watch Hill cottages that stand today had been constructed by people from such places as Philadelphia and St. Louis Watch Hill, situated at the southwest tip of Rhode Island on

The Silversmiths of Little Rest” By William Davis Miller. Published by Joslin Hall Publishing in 1992. Edition limited to 250 copies. description continues ... morebelow the picture- DISCUSSION: A facsimile reprint of the very scarce 1928 original edition. Six silversmiths worked in Little Rest(now Kingston) Rhode Island in the late 18th century. Samuel Casey the silversmith/counterfeiter was the most famous. But the other five were also interesting characters. One was Gideon Casey, Samuel's brother in flesh but not crime, and yet another was Joseph Perkins, who sat on the jury which convicted Samuel Casey of counterfeiting. The others included John Waite, Samuel Casey's apprentice, a militia captain during the Revolution, and the engraver of the first Rhode Island paper money issued with the word"State" instead of"Colony" William Waite, John's brother; and the gifted Nathaniel Helme, who might have been the greatest of them all had he not died at the age of 28. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 8"x10" 50 pages plus 10 black& white plates, with several line illustrations in the text, dust jacket. CONDITION NOTES: In fine. Clean condition. We have only given this account book a cursory examination- it came to us with a number of other early New England ledgers which we have sold over the past several years. The Ledger covers the period September 8. 1858 through some time in August 1861. Accounts were kept for local residents with family names that included, Bagley, Durfee, Knight, Barbar, Palmor, Shippee, Munroe, Woodmansie, Hoxsie, Greene, Briggs, Whitehorn, Read, Clark, etc. Each account lists the name of the person, ... morethe goods or services rendered and the amount due. Most of the family history is written on the back of the New Testament title page. There is also some history at the end of the Old Testament and on rear inside cover. ... moreThere is also a piece of hand laid paper from 1776 in the bible(see pictures) that documents the deaths of Elizabeth and George Arnold. The leather bound bible measures approx. 4 x 6 1/2 inches and has a raised spine. The top cover has started to slip from the spine. The title page from the Old Testament as well as the first few pages are missing, however, the rest of the bible appears to be intact including the New Testament title page. NO RESERVE!
