This doll is obviously not as old as the house. Because the first glass coca cola bottle was produced in 1917? This dolls body is made of a coca cola/or similar glass bottle- perhaps a HobbleSkirt Coca Cola bottle? However. I don't know for sure- as I never had the nerve to undo the dolls delicate dressing. I found this doll when I was 11 years old trying to find a good hiding place for my diary. When I stumbled on a loose floor board in our attic. I lifted the floor board and uncovered this doll wrapped in an old cloth and a jar of old marbles, and pieces of fabric. Even at the young age of 11. I was inquisitive and always curious, and tried to find out more about the doll. Being the daughter of two great story tellers, my father told me it was probably ghosts, and my mother said it must have been the fairies. I tried jogging their memory years later, and they both looked at me cross eyed. Needless to say I know nothing of her origins. When she was made and who created her. I DO KNOW she has to be over 37 years old, as my family has owned the house for that long. Regardless. I have kept her as a secret treasure for years. I did in the end, find a good hiding spot(not in the attic) in the end for my diary, which was so good, I never found it again, or perhaps my brother did before I had the chance! Current Condition: This doll is in worn played with condition- in the same condition I found her. She stands about 14" inches tall. She is cloth with a simple cotton dress& apron. Her clothes is pinned on. I'm certain she was home made. There is all kinds of wear. Frank& Darrow and Frank& Elmendorf of Corning. Iowa. These letters are all on printed letterheads with a couple different letterheads in the group. All letters are connected to the same group of investors in Corning, Iowa and sent to the same banker in Bloomfield, Iowa. The letters concern the purchase of farms in Davis County, Iowa with specific farms and property holders named. The earlier letters are on the letterhead of George W. Frank& Darrow. Bankers& Negotiators of Loans, Corning, Iowa(this letterhead also gives a New York City address for the business and lists the principals ... moreas Geo. W. Frank. Lew. E. Darrow and Wm. M. Tenney) The letters after September 1880 and on letterhead of Frank& Elmendorf Iowa. New York and Corning, Iowa and later Kearney, Nebraska. The George W. Frank House in Kearney, Nebraska still stands today and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as one of the finest examples of Gilded Age mansion architecture in the Midwest.
