A super fun job! I have always found the tin or metal beautifully pierced with artistic shapes to be a type of folk art. There is no pattern and I would think perhaps each maker had a different way of making his shapes different from other artisans. The wood frame surrounding the metal warmer is work of art as well. The wood looks to me like pine. Carefully examine in photos 1 and 2 the gorgeous turned wood posts and how there is a notch to connect the posts to the frame. Pic. 2 shows the insert into the notch beautifully. There are two sets of holes on top of this frame for the bail handle. I believe one wore out from holding the weight of the coal and wood frame so another hole had to be established. I know tin is the normal metal. but to me it almost feels like a thicker metal. I will let you be the judge. It doesn't really matter. I would imagine the thicker metal would keep the heat in more efficiently. The air needed for the fire and also to release heat are pierced into the top of the metal in lines and then in folk art hearts and circles on the front and two sides. Inside the chamber of the metal box is a metal bin for placing burning coals into the metal box placing it back inside the warmer.pic 3) The box has some rust from holding burning coal over the years. I love the construction because it has a folded flap corner. Delightful! Please be careful with the door that opens the inside coal chamber. It is good shape as you can see from the long hinge. The door has thin rods that hold the door shut to keep some heat in. There is a handle that turns and does not pull. I just want to warn you so that you do not pull and pull and eventually break the door off: I cannot help but think this is a beautiful example of what the perfect foot warmer should

The plates are rare examples by a maker I had never been able to offer for sale before coming across a few in a recent lot I was able to purchase. One plate is marked on the back rim with the distinctive mark of Jonas Durand who worked out of London from 1732 to 1775. The second plate has a worn impressed mark in the center of the back. This plate was purchased on Charles Street in Boston on May 22, 1967. The first plate with the maker's mark, that mark can be found in Cotterrell mark# 1475. Apart from its inherent collectible value as an 1850s book, is that it contains several entries listing"Samuel Morse" as a customer, including the items he purchased. The cover has some slight discoloration and minor edge wear, but it has absolutely no damage, such as splitting, creasing, rips or tears. The gold embossed lettering. Of the title and author, is extremely well preserved, both on the front cover and the binding. The page edges are just starting to discolor some, but they have not succumb to brittleness, and there's almost no foxing. I actually didn't see any foxing, aside from a touch on the inside of the cover, but I also did not look at every single page so it's ... morepossible there's a minor spot or two hidden amongst them. The gold leaf on the top page edges, is still very much intact, and still has a great deal of luster. The binding is tight, and there are no loose or missing pages. This is a very nice antique book. Tabernacle Hymns No. 2 is an antique hardback book printed in 1940. It appears to be a first edition. But I'm not sure about that. That is the only date in it. It was published by Tabernacle Publishing Company in Chicago, Illinois. It contains 351 hymns. All pages are intact, none are loose, but pages are yellowed from age. Names are written in pen on the inside front covere and first blank page of previous owners. The binding seems to be intact but has some spots and wrinkles on it and is frayed a little at the bottom and top edges. Overall, the book is in relatively good shape for it's age.
