The Best of Norman Rockwell 1979 (NM!) / *RARE BONUS PRINTS 1937* NCAP, Ltd.
This auction is for a beautiful book and a set of rare prints. First the book: This book is beautiful. There is absolutely NO MARKINGS or WRITING in this book whatsoever. There is NO FOXING on the dustjacket or on the cover outside or inside cover. There is ABSOLUTELY NO FOXING ON ANY PAGE! No pages have ever been folded or repaired. The hard cover is a pretty blue and it is glossy as if it were brand new. All of the art work is clean. Bright and glossy. There is minor rubbing on the corners and the tip top of the spline almost next to nothing. The corners and the binding are very tight. 40 pages of art work. The bottom of the DJ reads"40 Full Color Posters Suitable For Framing" I made two minor fixes on the DJ. It had a 1"inch split at the top and a 1" split at the bottom. The DJ is a little bit rubbed up and down the ... morefront edges and ruffled a little on the edges, nothing bad at all. Second. The prints: These prints are rare. They were discovered in a warehouse almost 40years after they were printed. It was a project by Eleanor Roosevelt to help boost the moral of the people in the United States during the Great Depression. They spent a $500,000.00 to make the prints that were exact replicas of the art work of some of the greatest artist who have ever lived. There are prints by Titan, Da Vinci, Monet, and many more. 16 prints in all, very beautifully done. Other people online are selling these and they aren't that valuable, but there are not that many in circulation. They only had a few thousand sets in that warehouse when they discovered them in 1975. If forget the whole story, but for some reason they never got sent out. You are getting an outstanding book and some really great prints at what i think is a very good price. Also, as you can see in my pictures that there is a pamphlet along with the art prints. The top edge has just 1 teeny tiny tear. And the center of the bottom edge has a little wrinkling, from the magazine resting on someone’s lap. The top and bottom edges have some very light aging. This original Norman Rockwell illustrated Niblets Corn ad only from an original American Weekly Sunday newspaper has been carefully torn from the newspaper. The top and right edges both have a few small to medium tears(1-inch being the longest) Also the right edge had 4 holes punched in it. So it must have been in a 4 ring binder at one time. The top edge has a few minor chips, and the bottom of the right edge is missing a.25 x 1-inch piece. This page was folded and stored at a slight angle across the center, and the top half has some aging. The illustration is vivid against a clean background. The back side has some small ... moreads including Bon Ami. And a dress patterns section. The page is nice and clean. Norman illustrated 100s of ads to promote all sorts of products and they were in all sorts of magazines. But this ad was very unusual because it was in a Sunday newspaper. He only did 4 illustrations for Green Giant/ Niblets Corn. The young boy in this ad is Norman’s 4-1/2 year old son Peter. And the picture frame he bought at an old frame shop in New England. This is a really nice early ad that I think would look great framed, or as an addition into either your Norman Rockwell, or vintage advertising collection. Shop with confidence.
