The volume is bound in its original black cloth with a beautiful. Full color, paste down illustration on the front board featuring a wonderful illustration by Maxfield ... moreParrish. The binding is intact though the rear hinge is split almost completely and thus the rear board is almost detached. The rear free end paper is detached with significant edge chipping. There are some spots of scuffing to the pastedown but overall the covers are very attractive and the Book displays nicely. The interior pages are complete, tight and generally clean throughout, though there are three leaves with edge chipping and tight tears(the longest being 3” in length) due to rough opening of uncut pages. This rare and very attractive Volume measures approx. 6 1/4" x 8” and contains 228 pages plus 9 plates and the illustrated title page by Maxfield Parrish. Also included are small Parrish illustrations at the end of each chapter. The Volume is beautifully bound in olive green pictorial cloth boards with a castle on a hilltop design stamped in black. Gold, turquoise and a touch of red on the front board. The outstanding.
