The leather bound spine is split but still hanging on by the strings, the first page is torn it was a blank page with owners writing on it. The clasps are missing but the hinges are still there. There is writing on front and back pages which are mostly birth dates from the 1800s. The bible measures 7 1/2" tall by 4 1/2"across. The book is still very readable. This book is in good condition for being 156 years old. The book has leather straps with clasps. The binding is leather and has a tear on the top of the binding but the piece is still in tact. The book is written in Norwegian and was owned at one time by Rev. Gustav Benson. There is writing on the inside of the front and back cover as shown in the pictures. Just Beautiful Old German Bible. Almost without flaws. See all 12 pictures. Read description and please feel free to email with questions. Looks to be 1929 ~ The only date I found. But the condition is so remarkable, I'm unsure. Hoping for some help from some fellow ebayers. There are three maps ~ see photos. The pages are toned at edges. The bind is strong. No marks found anywhere in text. No family information. Deaths, births, marriages, etc. All genealogical and spiritual passage pages are blank. No hinge cracks. There is an imprint on the back cover"421" A very few light scuffs that can be seen somewhat in photos. A paper page marker has left the upper portion of two pages much more toned. As you can see in photo 7.
