Beautiful Framed LIFE MAGAZINE centerfold- Grace Before Meat" 1945 THIS IS NOT A PRINT! This is a beautiful ORIGINAL centerfold which was an ad for the Swift Meat Company in Life Magazine. 1945. It appeared as a two page spread in the April 9, 1945 issue of Life Magazine. This was an ad for Swift& Company which was one of the major meat packers in the US, famous for Butterball turkeys among other products. The artist was Hadden Lundbolm and the expression, Grace Before Meat" comes from the title of an 1821 essay by Charles Lamb. I have included photos that show the center of the picture where the actual staples originally were located when attached to the magazine. It was acquired at an estate sale in a group of items from the early 1900's and late 1800's so highly possible that it is a n original. This family got rid of nothing and ever ything was well maintained. In any event(53 or 130 years old) it is in fabulous condition. The yellowing if a reprint was probably created to give"original" effect. Very nice piece of history in either scenario. See photos. Like all my items this is being sold as is. The magazines came out between 1936 and 1937. The magazines are in a vintage binder. As you can see in the pictures below the magazines are held in the binder by a metal piece that goes from the top to the bottom of the binder and there is one metal piece in the middle of each magazine. You can easily remove the medal piece and take each magazine out if you want to. The magazines are pretty nice shape especially for being over 75 years old!
