Bronze ... moreDimensions with Marble Base:Height 19" x Width 9" Marble Dimensions:6 1/2" X 5 1/2" Height without base: 18" Weight:9 LBS Inventory: 63-97082NA36 A fierce Native American women prepares to Dance. She stands tall with bravery. Silent confidence and stunning beauty on a grassy hill top. Her full eagle-feather and beaded war bonnet covers her head. The feathers round her head, fully extended upright. 100% bronze and handmade, this sculpture was cast using the“Lost Wax Method” and is mounted on a round black marble base. The process of bringing a bronze sculpture to life using the lost-wax method is something you'll appreciate after taking this tour- Enjoy. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. As you can see now they begin painting the latex rubber onto the original together with the clay plus that's been added in layers. Notice

1897 TRUE STORIES OF NEW ENGLAND CAPTIVES DURING THE FRENCH INDIAN WARS - Barker
I have this antique book available that is THE TRUE STORIES OF NEW ENGLAND CAPTIVES during the French and Indian War. For you history buffs it is fascinating reading. Possible water staining and some slight tears. Nothing huge. The back cover is separated from the spine see picture 2. The pages don't appear to be torn or overly damaged. Just yellowed from age. I could have missed a page or two but not intentionally. And I must reiterate that this is antique and very old and is showing it's age. It doesn't detract from the very interesting reading. 1878 Travel Diary to Colorado Dodge City KS Indian Fight
1878 Travel Diary to Colorado Dodge City KS Indian Fight Describes Travel from Missouri Encounters Indian This is a fantastic handwritten diary of a trip starting in Missouri and going to Colorado with stopovers in places like Dodge City. Kansas. There is great description of the trip and the places they visited including several times talking about run-ins with Indians or avoiding Indians and one of a battle between soldiers and Indians near Fort Dodge. It is from 1878 and covers several months journey. It is in good condition and done by Lilley. It says in part: Left Osceola MO for Colorado May the 16 th 1878. Our party consisted of four in NO: N Lilley. Zach Lilley, Hugh Hecherd and WE Lilley, the first day we reached Appleton City…Thence we removed to Mr Jacob Gundy’s 3 miles South East of town and remained there until Monday 20… I saw ... morethe smoke from his campfire. I then remarked that I did not expect to see campers so near to our own tent. To which he replied in an unknown language or rather no tongue at all. I there smelt Big INgin and farther more saw the rings in his ears and some other weaving apparel peculiar to the Indian…I immediately notified the gentleman by a motion of the hand that distance would bring enchantment to the scene…I then made some other remark to which he replied in a gruff grunt and a sudden loss of the head by this time I had seen quite enough of Indian life for the time being and made the same known by gently waving the Red Skin off… Salma County is like most other Kansas RR towns in point of business. The streets were thronged with busy men and loaded wagon. I was not definitely informed as to its population. Some gave it as being 1500 while others claimed it for 3000. The buildings are substantial most of them being built of stone or brick. There public school building is one that would be a credit to any town in the state… Saw a Jack Rabbit during the day passed through Brooksville. A small town on the KPRR pitched our tent on a branch about 4 miles west of Brooksville. We are

With Report of the Secretary of War. Interior, c. 1858 Mormons Utah War Brigham Young The operations of the army in connexion with the Territory of Utah since the date of my last report. Deserve particular notice. They have been in themselves important, and fraught with most important results. After the open acts of war perpetrated by the Mormon people against the United States. In seizing the provision trains of our army, and destroying them with fire; and in stealing and driving off the herds of cattle and horses belonging to the command, although these were essential, as everybody supposed, to the maintenence of our troops and their protection against starvation; these people ... morecontinued to manifest every proof of a fixed determination to push their treason to the extremity of bloodshed and war. They not only proclaimed martial law in that Territory without a pretext, but against every principle of justice, of law, and of the Constitution; they embodied their whole force of effective men and kept them constantly drilled and under arms, hovering about our encampment, seeking a favorable moment, if one should ever offer itself, to cut off and destroy the whole command. They fortified the narrow mountain passes leading towards the town and chief settlements where they reside, and collected front remote neighborhoods all the deluded people belonging to their meet. Every preparation which indicated it spirit of determined hostility, of rebellion of treason and war, characterized these people in every action, and nothing but menace and defiance towards the United States authorities ever fell from the lips of their chief Impostor or any of his confederates. When a small force was first sent to Utah, the Mormons attacked and destroyed their trains, and made ready for a general attack upon the column. When a sufficient power was put on foot, to put succ

For those not familiar with that war here is its history off Wikipedia: The Black Hawk War was a brief conflict fought in 1832 between the United States and Native Americans headed by Black Hawk. A Sauk leader. The war erupted soon after Black Hawk and a group of Sauks, Meskwakis, and Kickapoos known as the"British Band" crossed the Mississippi River into the U.S. state of Illinois in April 1832. Black Hawk's motives were ambiguous, but he was apparently hoping to avoid bloodshed while resettling on land that had been ceded to the United States in a disputed 1804 treaty. American officials. Convinced that the British Band was hostile, mobilized a frontier army. With few U.S. Army soldiers

1911 Typed Letter Dept of the Interior Office of Indian Affairs Denver Co Signed
This is really such an interesting letter. As you can see in the scans it has a“Department of the Interior. Office of Indian Affairs, Headquarters Field Supervisors, Denver Colo. letterhead. It’s a two page typed letter and dates July 18 th. 1911. The letter is to Miss Lucrettia T. Ross, Supervising Nurse, Pawnee, Oklahoma. It is signed by Joseph A. Murphy. Medical Supervisor. It’s all about Miss’s Ross’s nursing ability and gives her high praise. I want to give you a bit of background surrounding these two people. On the web in a 1911 magazine I found an article about Miss Ross and it talks about her being the Supervisor of Nurses in the Indian Service and“one of the most consecrated women in the work. This is a very interesting article too because it takes place right before the time of this letter and I must quote from the article as I ... morebelieve it has some relevance to this letter… June 24 th. 1911, INDIAN LIFE IS CHEAP Then Miss Lucretia T. Ross. Supervisor of Nurses in the Indian Service, and one of the most consecrated women in the work, ventured to make a protest to the Assistant Commissioner. It appears that there had recently been a malignant epidemic of malarial fever in one of the Pueblos. This particular Pueblo had on hand none of the common remedies used in such cases. While a neighboring Pueblo had a big surplus of these same remedies and no malaria. Miss Ross appealed to Superintendent Crandall to have some of these medicines transferred from the Pueblo where they were no needed to the Pueblo where they were needed and needed urgently. Crandall refused the request on the ground that it would involve too much clerical work to make the transfer on his books. And so the Indians were left to die. Miss Ross reported the matter to the Assistant Commissioner Abbott and came near being discharged from the service for her trouble. She was given to understand that she should attend to her own business and not complain to Mr. Crandall. She was then transferred to an obscure post in Oklahoma as a p

An express was despatched to Philadelphia with news of the massacre; on hearing which, the governor issued a proclamation denouncing the act, and offering a reward for the discovery of the perpetrators. Undaunted by this measure, and enraged that any of their victims should have escaped, the Paxton men determined to continue the work they had begun. In this resolution they were confirmed by the prevailing impression, that an Indian known to have murdered the relatives of one of their number was among those who had received the protection of the magistrates at Lancaster. They sent forward a spy to gain intelligence, and, on his return, once more met at their rendezvous. On this occasion, their nominal leader was Lazarus Stewart, who was esteemed upon the 363 borders as a brave and active young man; and who, there is strong reason to believe, en

NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN Handwritten Manuscript Diary/Hunting/Fishing/Archery 1647
AMAZING. ORIGINAL CIRCA LATE 17TH CENTURY DIARY FRAGMENT PERTAINING TO NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS. This extraordinary early diary clipping is dated 1647 and provides a fascinating glimpse at Pilgrim observations of the indigenous population in the rugged New World(probably Massachusetts Bay Colony) Neatly penned in an unknown cursive hand. Clipping is presumably a slightly later contemporary transcription(ca. 1685) of the original diary entry, made in an effort to help preserve the writings for later publication. Early manuscript is devoted exclusively to the activities and behavior of Native American Indians. Particularly their methods of hunting and fishing. Included is a reference to the"Powawes" an early term used to describe Indians who practiced forms of magic. Lengthy early fragment is backed by an additional layer of thin paper ... moreand matted onto single sheet of modern paper. The Indian people in these parts at the English first com ing. And a little bit of cloth to cover their privy part. The Women for the most part are very modest. Although they go as naked as the Men; they are generally very laborious at their planting time. And the Men extraordinary idle. Making their squawes to carry their Children and the luggage beside; so that many times they travell eight or ten mile. With a burden on their backs, more fitter for a horse to carry than a woman. The men follow no kind of labour but hunting. Fishing and fowling. In all which they make use of their Bowe and Arrowes to shoot the wilde creatures of the Trees. As Squirrells, gray and black Rockoones; as for Deer they ordinarily catch them in traps. With a pole bent down, and a Cord at the end. Which flyes up and stayes their hasty course. Bever. Otter. And Moose they catch with Traps also; they are very good marks-men. With their Bowe and Arrowes. Their Boyes will ordinarily shoot fis
