Three have the same scene but one is a bit different. Overall condition on all plates is very good with no chips or cracks to make note of. Two of the plates of the plates have a bit of crazing which is mainly visible on the back. Each plate measures 7 1/4" straight across(not measuring flat on the surface of the plate) Also worth noting.Each plate does have a well in the center. So they may have originally been for double handle bullion cups. Still wonderful for display considering the motif and colors. Carved Marble Relief Female Medieval Hunt Scene Hounds Renaissance Stunning
I am offering this large 18 x 16" highly detailed relief sandstone. Marble or marble like" scene with beautifully hand carved gilded wood frame which would be stunning in a Victorian setting. Back of this absolutely amazing frame has a label that reads"Carvers and Guilders, England. The actual carved relief scene measures 7 1/2 x 9 1/2" I believe a Renaissance or medieval art style relief depicting a highly detailed female hunting scene with 2 hounds. Condition; The hand carved frame guilt is thick. It frames the relief and then frames the frame and measures 2 1/4" thick, see close up for reference but it has some slight cracks here and there that give it the look of age. The cracks are slight and not deep. There is one condition issue in the relief itself, the maiden on the very left with spear in hand has lost the ... moretips of her fingers from the pointer to the little finger in a diagonal line, one has to look closely to see the loss, otherwise it is perfect. I don't know much about this plate. I or my mom bought this plate in Canada in the 70's. There is very little crazing on it. No one has ever eaten from it. It was hung on the wall. The photo of the backside did not come out that clear. But on the back it has" England" printed sideways on the photo left. Then it has" Alpine white ironstone woods& sons. The plate measures 10" across. Unfortunately I don't have room for my collector plates in my new home. It is used. It has little crazing I see only one 1 1/2" long line over the rider on the bay. A bit over from the bay's hock is a small dark dot. On the flowered pattern border near the bottom right is a small scratch which blends in with the pattern. Outstanding colors. A lovely piece. It features on the lid a hunt scene with horses. Riders, and dogs. The sides of the base are a deep green, almost black on the bottom two-thirds and fading to light green near the rim. The background appears to be a transfer or decal, while the horses, riders and dogs are hand painted accents. The backstamp says"Celebrate- Czechoslovakia" see photo) The box measures about 4 5/8" long. 3 1/2" deep, and 2" high. Condition(on a scale of poor. Fair, good, very good, excellent) is fair. Here's the bad news. I'm afraid this sweet gem has suffered some damage. There is a surface crack near the top rim of the base of the box, about 1/4" ... morelong, and one side of the rim on the box base has a chip near the top. Now for the lid, there is a tiny flake off the paint of the side, and a shallow chip on the inside of the rim. See photos. When problems happen! 1) One thing that comes up occasionally is that a purchase is received and it isn't the size you imagined it would be. Before purchasing check the measurements in the listing. Vintage Made in Japan Hunt Scene Horse Rider Hounds Wallpocket Wall Pocket
Offered for sale is this vintage 1930's- 1940's hunt scene wall pocket featuring horse. Rider and hounds. This wall pocket is makred on the bottom in black ink stamp Made in Japan as well as having the same incised on the back. Condition is good with no chips, no cracks, no repairs. There does exist a minor and very tight(safe) hairline on the back near the top of the piece and likely created caused in part due to what appears as a old factory flaw(small crack) from the kiln during the manufacturing process(see photos) This is a manufacturing flaw. These vintage pieces of this type Made in Japan were often crudely made and this would be an example of such however it is still quite charming, decorative and neat for the collector of hunt scene things or wall pockets in particular.
