1931-40 Handwritten Diary Harry Jaques Lynn MA Historical Society Road Trips
Up for auction today is a 150 page handwritten diary that originally belonged to Harry A. Jaques. I found Harry on the Lynn Massachusetts genealogy sites so I’m assuming this is the same man. Says he was born in 1862 and married Junie or Jennie who has been his wife for 49 years when this diary was written. I get the feeling he might have something to do with the Historical Society too because in the front of the journal you’ll find several pages devoted to work he’s done and at the top of the pages it says either“Historical House” or“Lynn Historical” He also talks about the Historical Society within his diary entries. So this would most definitely be a great diary for anyone having interest in or living in the Lynn Massachusetts area. The first entry starts on November 1 st. 1931 and the last one May 30 th. 1940. He doesn’t write every single ... moreday but does write for 150 pages which give the reader a lot of information. He’s a“road trip” kind of a guy too because so many of his entries have to do with trips taken in an auto. RARE 1800 Collections of the MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL SOCIETY Great Content !
A copy of the text entitled: Coll[ections] Of T[he] Massachusetts Historical Society For The Year M.DCC,XCIX, published by Samuel Hall(Boston) in 1800, 1st edition, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" 288pp. These volumes produced by the Society were know for their rare and superb content, and this volume is no exception, with articles including: an Indian Language Dictionary, a Narrative of Newspapers, a Description of Salem, etc. The leather spine and papered boards have wear(loss of leather at corners and spine ends) cracked along hinges(but both boards still attached) spine dry/ cracking and lacking label, former owners' bookplates[Wainwright family] title page missing piece(affecting part of title) light toning/ scattered light foxing, a few bent corners, but generally quite good internally. RARE.
