I don't know just how rare this book is but I can tell you I couldn't find it for sale anywhere on the web including the rare book sites. There are 320 pages of incredible ads. Traveling information, history, maps, photos, hotel information and locations, clubs, cafes, illustrations, steamer schedules, train schedules, bus schedules, and anything else the Victorian traveler would want to know about Egypt and the Sudan. It goes on and on and on. It was printed and published by(as stated on the front cover) Whtehead Morris& Co. Egypt) Limited, London, Cairo, Alexandria and at Cape Town and Johannesburg. I can't begin to describe everything that's included in this guide book. I'm assuming it was printed in Egypt and give to the tourist as they toured the area.I scanned a picture of one of the maps but didn't want ... moreto unfold it but that's why it looks the way it does in the scans above. One of the maps is of the city of Cairo and is marvelous. The staples in the center of the book have rusted(see scans above) which makes a few of the pages loose but accounted for. One belonged to my grandmother(she's 92) and one to her mother.They aren't in great condition. But. The notes in them are wonderful and the pictures are terrific. This lot includes: Birds: A Guide to the Most Familiar American Birds. This was copyrighted by Golden Press in 1949 and 1956. The first 36 pages are loose. Pages 37 to 44 are missing. Pages 45 to the end are intact. There are 129 birds in full color. There are some pencil marks on the front and back covers. Bird Guide Part 2 Land Birds East of the Rockies. This belonged to my great-grandmother. Both she and my grandmother made notes in this as to where and when they saw specific birds. The front and back covers have been taped. This starts with ... morepage 11 which is the page just before where Part 2 of the book starts. I have no idea what was in Part 1. She saw a Belted Kingfisher in 1905. A Hairy Woodpecker in 1905 and in 1914 in Pennsdale, etc. The notes are from the early 1900's and then from about 1910 to 1920. These were seen mostly around Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This book is in very rough condition. The first section is missing. The cover is ripped in half and has been taped with brown paper tape. 1928 Elbert Hubbard Little Journeys Complete 14 Vol + Guide Book, HBw/dj, World
This version published by the World Publishing Company presumably in 1928. CLEAN AND SOLIDLY BOUND. Dust jackets also crisp with one having a small stain on the spine and one having a small tear(both seen in first photo) The boards and spine paste-on all in superb condition with the volume number on the paste-on being darkened from being exposed with a hole in the dust jacket. No markings except nice inscription in Volume 1 shown in the photo. Guide Book did not have a dust jacket. This collection looks like it was shelved in 1928 until I removed it for this listing!
