It is one of the best-documented early printed books—an incunabulum—and one of the first to successfully integrate illustrations and text. These Encyclopedias have been our family for three generations. They are incredibly detailed and have 1000's of great maps. Drawings, paintings and photos that would be suitable for framing. They give a great perspective of what was going on in 1926(and what wasn't! Thomas Edison gets barely a quarter page. For history buffs this is a mass of information! Approximately 16.000 pages in 16 books, 32 volumes! This collection weighs over 100 lbs! There are so many detailed drawings it is mind boggling. Look at the detail on the maps! The bindings are all tight and good. The covers are all good, some scuffing. The pages are all there and there may be a few pages that have gotten folded over. But I couldn't find any. You can feel it separating from the spine(all pages still intact) The illustrations inside are phenomenal and are unaffected. There is a small signature from someone in the top left of the book, however the interesting part about this auction is that Rube Allyn signed it himself! The book belonged to a personal friend of his at one point according to the paragraph he hand wrote on the inside of the book. It reads like this.
