Approximately 16.000 pages in 16 books, 32 volumes! This collection weighs over 100 lbs! There are so many detailed drawings it is mind boggling. Look at the detail on the maps! The bindings are all tight and good. The covers are all good, some scuffing. The pages are all there and there may be a few pages that have gotten folded over. But I couldn't find any. In original binding. The full title is REPORT ON THE UNITED STATES AND MEXICAN BOUNDARY SURVEY MADE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR BY WILLIAM H. EMORY. The volumes were published separately 1857 to 1859 by A.O.P. Nicholson Washington. I assume the reader of this listing is already familiar with this work so will refrain from a long winded description of it's content and history. The books measure 9-7/8 x 11-5/8 inches. They are hard covered with fabric, leather at spine and corners. Though not perfect, condition is superb. There are a few spots of wear on covers, old color ... morelithographs have bled through some of the pages leaving them slightly darkened. Minor foxing here and there. There is a printer's error, pages 105 through 112 are missing, pages 113 through 120 are duplicated. An ex libris pasted on fly leaf of each volume. All lithographs and fold out maps are present. There are 33 full page color lithographs, 140 full page engravings, over 100 other illustrations. There are four large fold out maps/ graphs. The following artists, lithograph companies, engravers, cartographers contributed to this work: Schott, Weyss, De Vaudricourt, Dougal, Smillie, Sarony Major Knapp, Bowen& Co, Jekyll& Hall, others.
