Beautifully bound antique book- The Lady of the Lake by S ir Walter Scott. Small book just 6" tall with elegant silver lettering and a lily of t he valley design on the spine& cover. Published in Philadelphia by Rodgers Company. No date but circa 1900. Lacks front endpaper and one page is detached with a chipped e dge. Otherwise a very good copy. Opal by Bessie R. Hoover. Published by Harper and Brother's Publishing in 1910. This is a hardcover book that measures about 7.5" x 5" and has 330 pages. The date on the title page and copyright page match. And the month of October is indicated as the publishing month, which for this publisher means it is a first edition. The book is in VERY GOOD- condition. The cover has a little wear, and a beautiful flower heart design with gold gilt letters, the binding is tight and the pages are clean and in excellent shape. This is a novel written in 1910, in the way they would have spoken during that time. This is a pamphlet with no hard cover. It is the"Commission Sales Book" of"E. W. Werst" as per the front cover. On the back cover it says"Commission Sales Book. E. H. Werst, Hellertown Northampton Co. PA. Father and son? 8 interior pages seem to be hand lined in red ink as a ledger. Dated 1861, and filled out in beautiful calligraphic handwriting. The front cover has a typical calligraphy bird as decoration. Size 8" x 12 1/2" Sewn together down center spine. Other pages are blank and unlined. Total of 46 pages. 23 sheets) excluding the front cover. An Edwin H. Werst died May 12th 1877 in Northampton County PA- on Page 1954 of Marriages& Deaths. Mabel Irene Werst- only daughter of Lower Saucon Township E. H. Werst died 12/22/1875. Age 5 years, 9 mos. 10 days. Some discoloration. Paper missing at bottom ... morecorner of cover.
