This auction is for a beautiful. Small book from the early part of the 1900's. The book's title is"Pansy Blossoms" and the subject appears to be inspirational and religious quotes. The inside inscription reads"To Mrs. Sheffield From your friend with Dearest Love and Sympathy from Hannah E. English. This book was published by Cupples& Leon Company New York, although a specific date was not mentioned. This publishing company began in 1902. Given that information, and judging by the pictures& Art Nouveau styled borders, I would estimate that this book was printed any time between 1902 and mid 1920's. I have seen similar copies of this book that estimated the date around 1910. As you can see by some of the picture examples I've provided, the book contains very lovely illustrations and borders, with a pansy ... moreflower theme. This book is in good antique condition, particularly for being around 100 years old. However, please note that there is some wear, particularly along the binding, and some of the pages are discolored or have spots. Also, the covers of the book are slightly dirty. This is a beautifully illustrated book. It was a gift to a young boy from his Aunt Feb. 9. 1926. It is a third printing. Copyright 1915. It is a hard cover illustrated by Frederick Richardson. There is writing in pencil below the pictures; names written by a child. The book is not in great condition on the outside. Some pages have pulled loose from the binding but most are still attached. The pictures are in really good condition. If you have the heart to remove them, they would be beautiful framed and hanging in a nursery or day care. The colors are bright.
