Early Antique 18th Century Dated 1788- German Bible with Coin Silver Latches& Leather Binding The antique German bible from the 18th century is dated 1788 on one of the interior front pages.The hand painted interior page has a decorative floral pattern and old German text with a 1788 date within a border of vibrant red and rich green tempera pigment. The early bible has hand-made coin silver corners. Engraved hinges and decorative coin silver latches that are hallmarked on the inside"12" indicating German coin silver) along with“IPS” EV” and“B” There is a hand written note in German script affixed to the first page. The decorative early handmade endpapers have an unusual iridescent metallic copper floral pattern. The leather bound covers of the book have scratching and scuffing, and some of the leather is missing from the spine ... morebinding- typical and to be expected with a book of this age. The silver hinges and edges are tarnished, and the latches still operate properly. The inside of the book is in good condition, with a few spots of mold and yellowing of pages. FANTASTIC. ORIGINAL 19TH CENTURY NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT LEDGER. This amazing volume was compiled by Hook& Ladder Company No. 19 which at the time operated from Ogden Avenue in the Bronx section of New York City. The location where it was originally organized. Entries run from May 6th through August 15th, 1887, and cover day-to-day activities of the firehouse in fascinating detail. Massive folio contains some 500 numbered pages. Each chock full of handwritten entries including fire calls and alarms, ambulance calls, roll calls, company drills, meal breaks, caring and exercising of the horses, trips to the blacksmith shop, equipment maintenance, supply purchases, etc. This is one of those vintage gems which should be seen to be fully appreciated. C. 1894 Antique AZTEC Water Bottle by McKee Glass
Fresh from an estate of an elderly lady who collected EAPG glass is this wonderful old. Circa 1894 water bottle made by McKee Glass. The pattern is AZTEC. This particular pattern was made to imitate the fine leaded crystal produced in that era at a price the average person could afford. Thus. While pressed in a mold, there is the remnants of a pontil mark. The design on this patter is very pronounced and definite. This water bottle is in very good condition for its age(I should look so good at over 118 years.lol) The glass is clear. Any cloudiness is due to my flash and the intricate pattern of the glass. There are no chips and cracks that I find. Check out my pictures. This water bottle measures approx. 6 3/4" tall and is about 6 3/8" at the widest part. Here's an interesting old or antique book for children or young people of the 1880's period entitled"Popular Chatterbox Packet" The author or editor of this series of popular books of the time was J. Erskine Clark. This one has the date 1880 on the table of contents page and there is a sentiment on one of the blank pages indicating the book was originally presented as a gift in December of 1882. The book has 400+ pages including over 50 engraved full page illustrations that we can only show a small sample of. There are many other illustrations within the book to help along the stories. Poems and other content for children though they are not numbered like the full page ones. We did not see any color plates in the book for those who might ask. The book is about 7.25 by 9.75 inches in face dimension. The front cover has signs ... moreof use and is very weak at the hinge. The top at the top of the cover over the binding the material is loose and curled up as shown in a picture. The pages are nice, slightly darkened with age and the binding appears to be holding the pages well. The pages are a little ruffled at the outside edges as the pages are not strictly uniform in shape so some have slightly extended edges subject to ruffling. The content looks very interesting with an intent to engage the mind of young people while also advancing their education, morality, etc. as one would expect. Apparently these Chatterbox books were very popular and published well into the 20th century. That's about it. The pictures should be helpful to those having interest. Up for auction is an antique 1911 hardback book"That Printer of Udell's" by Harold Bell Wright. The book is in excellent condition with only a tiny bit of wear along the top and bottom outside spine of the book(please see detailed zoomed pic of outer spine) The front cover is in excellent condition. With the oft missing picture of the older gentleman on the front still completely intact and beautiful. The back cover of the book has one white spot on it about the size of a large pencil nub. Other than that the cover is in wonderful condition, especially since the book is 102 years old! The inside binding is nice and tight. With no pulling away from the spine that I can see. Most of the pages are in beautiful condition with only a couple having a few smudges here and there, and a few having a small amount of water marks showing ... moreon the bottom, probably 1 1/2" corner of about 10-11 pages, but nothing that covers any of the words. There are two nice glossy illustrations in the book as well. All in all a wonderful antiquarian book to add to any collection or just as a nice decorative piece for the house. His Humorous, Pathetic and Tragic adventures. The story copiously illustrated by H.S De Lay. His travels by Reproductions of Photographs Constituting Almost a Pictorial America. The outside hardcover of the book and binding are not in good condition and require lots of TLC. The whole of the book on the inside has come loose from the hardcover. The main reason I've put this book up for someone to have is because of the HUGE amounts of antiquarian old American photographs and illustrations inside. About every second to third page is a new picture and/or illustration and they are so old and wonderful that I thought someone would like it. I have included as many pictures of ... moresome of the photos and illustrations as I could. There is one photograph that is loose from the rest of the pages so I have tucked it inside for safety. The story/adventures inside as well are still entirely readable. The buyer just needs to be careful with the pages that they don't come apart as they are being held together by the woven threads from the binding of the book. All of the pages are smooth/semi-glossy. Because of the condition issues I have started the auction price VERY LOW. So get it while you can!
