I am excited to list these pages to auction because I find several of the images so very compelling. Lovely little vignettes; it is a pleasure to share them and find for them an appreciative home. What are they: 3 pages removed from an unknown book: LEAF 1: page is numbered 53/54. Page 53 contains my favorite image"Mormon Temple" and the flip side features a companion image"Foundations of the Temple" LEAF 2: page is numbered 55/56. Page 55 has image of"the Temple as it is to be" and the reverse page 56 features a grand image of"Great Salt Lake" LEAF 3: presumably from the same text. Page 227/228 features a discussion of caricature with a mention of Thomas Nast, and a caricature image of Ben Butler(by Nast) I am listing each LEAF as a separate auction. But all 7 PHOTOS attend each auction to establish ... moreperspective, continuity as to their nature and source. LEAF 1: Dimensions of this page are: 9 1/4 inch high x 6 3/8 inch wide. Image'Mormon Temple' is 3 7/16 inch wide x 3 inches tall. Please note SIZE of the images; they are not large. Page 53 bears the header ARTEMUS WARD, and text about the Temple, reference to Brigham Young seldom preaches now. Page is average weight paper, ivory off white in color(white balance in my camera is off and the photos render the paper a light brown color) paper is clean, undamaged, and the image would frame beautifully: I see these images as a form of Folk Art, please excuse my over enthusiasm. On the flip side'Foundations of the Temple' is arranged immediately opposite the front image, so you have to choose sides to frame or use a double sided frame. Large size framed antique print showing a scene from the American civil war. Harpers Weekly Nov. 15/ 1862. Caption reads" The war for the union- surprise of rebel guerillas by a squadron of United States cavalry" This is a LARGE size print- the print itself measures 20 in. wide x 14 in. high. The outside of the frame measures 33 in. wide x 25 in. high. The matte is black and is acid free. The frame is painted gold and varnished. This pictures presents a striking scene even within a large size room- the scene of warfare is very dramatic.

An Antique Oversize print lithograph? of George Washington Circa 1886 Gigantic 23" X 33" Gouptil N.Y. Paris London May 1st 1877 called"The Provisions Train" in excellent antique condition. Some slight foxing down at bottom where title is(see picture) and within the body of print. Top right and middle but very subtle mixed into busy-ness of print. Under glass as it once was, barely noticeable, but I have priced to reflect this. Lower left hand bottom corner& top right corner missing in white area by about 1/4" 1/2" respectively, so given the prints very large size, it appears very small. Would not show when framed or matted.Will add a picture as it just broke off after I took the pictures when I was moving it to put it away.Would be especially nice matted with a cutout to show title, as I have had done on ... moremany prints for an extra elegant look. This print is mounted on a hard backed antique surface from a framer long long ago. I will show the back as well. In otherwords.it is not a print that can be rolled. It is this hard backing that broke off in the corner. I have a really neat antique rebus by Benjamin Franklin. A rebus is a group of words and symbols that depict a story. The Art of Making Money Plenty" was written back around the revolution probably in response to how the king of England treated the colonies concerning money and such. Very interesting piece. Has been applied to a type of portable or lap desk/folder. I found this at an estate sale where I found some family history that helps me date this to the mid to late 1800's. There are some colorizations on some of the symbols which make it really stand out. Normal wear but cool piece. Measures 14 x 11. Good luck.
