The outside hardcover of the book and binding are not in good condition and require lots of TLC. The whole of the book on the inside has come loose from the hardcover. The main reason I've put this book up for someone to have is because of the HUGE amounts of antiquarian old American photographs and illustrations inside. About every second to third page is a new picture and/or illustration and they are so old and wonderful that I thought someone would like it. I have included as many pictures of ... moresome of the photos and illustrations as I could. There is one photograph that is loose from the rest of the pages so I have tucked it inside for safety. The story/adventures inside as well are still entirely readable. The buyer just needs to be careful with the pages that they don't come apart as they are being held together by the woven threads from the binding of the book. Antique 1910 Book- A Modern Chronicle Written By Winston Churchill with illustrations. There is a pencil inscription on the inside front cover"Mother from Harold. December 25, 1910" Looks like it was a Christmas gift from a son to his mother and it would be wonderful to carry on the tradition and give the book to a loved one yourself. Measures 7 ¾" by 5 ¼" and has 524 numbered pages. The illustrator was JH Gardner Soper. This 103 year old book has some wear. It has a water stain on about 10% of the page of about 20-25% of the book in the upper corners. The pages are yellowing from age which is expected. The binding on the front cover has a little separation. I found no dog eared pages or writing in the book other than the inscription. Hello and Welcome to Our Auction. You are looking at a hand written diary or journal and memorandum book by Mary E. Allison from Muskingum County Ohio. About half of it is a memorandum book. Then it is a 1910 diary or journal. It has Mary E Allison inscribed on the front end paper and is in nice penmanship, it seems to match the memorandum penmanship. It is also nice. It says 1910 Mary E Allison when she starts the diary, but her hand is much more sloppier and hard to read. The book measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" contains 47 leaves, 94 pages if you count front and back. There are 26 memorandum pages, 55 hand written diary, 1/2 blank in the center, 12 pages(6 leaves) blank in the back. She writes of daily work, visitors, getting mail, etc. Some of her entries are very hard to read. The covers have soiling and wear. The pages are browned ... morefrom age.
