this is an exquisite antique rare copy of The Chronicle of the Conquest of Granada by Washington Irving Author's revised edition. Volume 1 the Agapida edition published by G.P. Putnam's sons. New York& London the knickerbocker press 1892. it is beautifully illustrated with many black and white drawings. Etchings, and photographs, and are printed on very heavy stock archival paper. each illustration is also covered with a sheet of tracing paper in which has text on it describing the illustration underneath. also each page has an ornate red pattern wrapping around the text. the binding is exquisite. Bound with a fine leather binding which is embossed with a gorgeous gold gilt scrolled design and has the title also in gold gilt on the spine. the binding is in good shape especially for its age. Street, Fire, Park, Police, Board of Health, Ways and Means Committee, Abatement ... moreof Taxes, City Treasurer, Registrar(Births, Marriages& Deaths) City Attorney, City Collector, Port Warden, Amusements, and Board of School Visitors. There reports are quite detailed explaining improvements, problems, monies spent, etc. Of particular intest ae the reports of the Fire Department and Fire Commissioner. They contain all documented incidents of responding to fires with dates, locations, causes, loss in $$ and who responded or attended. Further, the Fire Commissioner Report also contains 11 FULL-PAGE ENGRAVINGS OF ANTIQUE FIRES ENGINES and HOOK& LADDER VEHICLES. Which look pretty neat. The Police Report is also interesting, with Drunkenness being the top crime, followed by Breach of the Peace, then Assault& Battery. There were only 7 arrests for Murder, 2 for Rape, and 1 Escaped Prisoner. Theft Arrests were 154, and Burglary 17, which either seems to indicate that Hartford was a pretty peaceable city at the time, or the Police Department wasn't particularly adept at catching real criminals. This covers 18 years of the city council recordings of Athens Illinois from 1892 to 1910. ITEM MEASUREMENTS This measures 16 1/2" high. 11 1/4" wide, and 3 1/2" thick. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This item is in good original"as found" condition. The book has wear consistent with age. ITEM WEIGHT This weighs 13 1/2 lbs. before being packed. Antique Book 1892-The Sir Roger De Coverley Papers From The Spectator
This book is part of the Eclectic English Classics and was published by the American Book Company in 1879. The book shows its age but is intact and the pages have no folds. Rips or tears. It has spent over 100 years on the shelf! 148 pages. The Encyclopedia Britannica states. Sir Roger de Coverley, fictional character. Devised by Joseph Addison. Who portrayed him as the ostensible author of papers and letters that were published in Addison and Richard Steele’s influential periodical The Spectator. As imagined by Addison. Sir Roger was a baronet of Worcestershire and was meant to represent a typical landed country gentleman. He was also a member of the fictitious Spectator Club, and the de Coverley writings included entertaining vignettes of early 18th-century English life that were often considered The Spectator’s best feature.

Vtg Antique Holy Bible Old & New Testaments Red Letter Art Edition Original 1892
The binding is becoming to come loose but still intached. The spine is tight. It's started to separated but still attached. The inside front page has a small hole at the top. When you pass the first page there is less and less wear. A few random light stains on some pages. Staining on back page with some silver fish damage but it's only on the back page. See pictures.
