It was acquired at an estate sale in a group of items from the early 1900's and late 1800's so highly possible that it is a n original. This family got rid of nothing and ever ything was well maintained. In any event(53 or 130 years old) it is in fabulous condition. Bizarre Antique/ Vintage OWL Figure 2 1/4" Sea Shells& Wood Very Unusual Part of my huge owl collection- 45 years spent at auctions& flea markets- one of the strangest. Just 2 1/4" tall. Including the base which is a slice of a tree or branch. The owl himself is formed by 2 sea shells, eyes painted on. He stands on another piece of wood. Seems to have a nautical theme. Next to him is another piece of wood, like the pilings on a dock, and this piece is connected to the one on which the owl stands by a string threaded through what seem to be nuts, but which I guess are to represent buoys. I do hope my pictures do a better job of describing it than I can do with words. It is certainly quite old, and is stamped JAPAN twice on the bottom.
