This is an extremely beautiful and hard to find book. It was published in England by Griffith Farran. Nister in about 1886. There are 3 books of 30 pages each bound into one book. It has half leather bindings spine and partial on the covers and corners. There is Gilt printing on the spine and covers and the edges. There is some light wear to the leather that which can easily be renewed. There is a blue moire on the boards. The inside covers are lovely marbled papers.The book is 6 inches x on 7 1/4 inches. There are cream and gray card covers with titling and the Nister Chromolithographs which have been carefully preserved. There was some rippling on a couple of the covers as it looks like the lithos have been pressed onto the card covers. I did not see any foxing but some of the printing of the black and white illustrations on the inside ... morehave bled a bit on to the opposite page. This is very minor. The pages are all a heavy stock paper. The gilt on the edges is still fresh. There is a small mystery spot on the inside first page. This is a rare and unique find and a real treasure to add to your library. The original Verses are by E. Nesbit, Theo Gift, and Caris Brooke.The Illustrations are by W.G. Addison, G. H. Thompson, Lizzie Lawson, A. Wilde Parsons, Julius Luz, Robert Ellice Mack and George Clausen and the book is produced and printed by Ernest Nister of Nuremberg. It comes from a smoke free home.
